The caravan park everyone is talking about. In the tiny town of Gulargambone, between Coonamble and Gilgandra. Turn west from the Castlereagh Highway into Bourbah Street, the left into Munnell Street, just on front of the Post Office where there is a caravan park sign. Next right into Skuthorpe Street for around 70 metres to caravan park entrance. Close to Warrumbungle National Park. 38 powered sites and large unpowered area. Drive through level green grassy sites.
Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good value for money $20 for 2A PN, unpowered. Amenities are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, car wash, dump point, book swap available, you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 2. Quiet, open & roomy park, no permanent/annual vans. Clean UC BBQs are free, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park.
Liked:- Friendly and welcoming hosts, pleasant environment, good venue for social interaction, or just sitting back with a cuppa. Large and very well provisioned communal area where the kettle is always ready for making a cuppa and a chat, and usually someone cooking morning or afternoon tea to share.. Extras in the bathroom, with it being well appointed, including the anti-static shower curtains and mats. Pets permitted.
Disliked:- If I have to be picky: This CP only fell short of 5/5 due to the lack of a disability access shower, with disability toilet only. The renovated bathroom has small shower cubicles, with inward opening doors. I discussed the convenience of making the to open outwards with David, so it may happen. $1 credit card fee, which I was happy to pay for the convenience.
Parking:- Room to park inside gate by office
Added Touches:- Free nibbles at undercover campfire and happy hour every afternoon. Camp oven roast dinners for $10 twice a week. All crockery and cutlery is provided in the communal area, and guests are welcome to make morning and afternoon teas. Great social interaction just happens.
Local Information:- Close to Warrumbungle NP. A small town that was dying. The trade at this happy caravan park is a boost for the whole town.

Town not worth visiting. Old, tired, nothing to do, nothing much to see. Feel sorry for any kids brought up here. $140 week. The only thing to do here is talk, visit another town or drink with the other caravaners at the fire of an evening. Usual wannabe Grey Nomad talk. Unable get Internet - getting "Limited" - But OK later in day, obviously congested. Internet OK. Showers really suck. Water is either scalding hot or freezing. Womens apparently doesn't have this problem. Amenities cleaned half-heartedly. The "roast" offered twice a week turns out to be a camp oven stew. Not bad, but not a roast. Never saw a free coffee at the 2828 information office, nor mentioned when we booked into park. A knitting and crochet workshop at the park was not mentioned, though Del would have liked to participate. Lack of information owing to park managers being away for a few days when we booked in, and lack of interest in the couple providing relief. Only plus here is the evening fire, an opportunity to talk to other caravanners. Otherwise Gulargambone is a waste of time. Hardly worth the effort learning how to pronounce it!

$20 [cash only no EFTPOS] a night at this excellent park and that includes free coffees at the Visitors Information Centre. The sites are grassed with good shade. The amenities block is old, but spotless. Damper and nibbles provided at happy hour. As we could not get to the camp kitchen the manager brought damper etc to our van! Service beyond the call of duty!

This is a great little park in a town that's trying hard to re-invent itself and attract tourists. Bernadette and David are happy to welcome you to their park and put on a campfire happy hour with free delicious damper and pizza. Every one of the caravanners was there and chatted for a few hours. We paid $20 for the night. Site was green grass with shady trees. Amenities are old but very clean with added touches like 3ply loo paper! There is a small farmyard with chooks, lambs, alpacas and turkeys! Mobile 5 bands. Visit cafe 2828 and look for the corrugated iron galahs.
