A well kept park very crowded when we were there no powered sites left. If you want power you must book ahead. We took an unpowered site which was ok but a bit of a walk to amenities. The whole park is light coloured gravel which would reflect the heat in summer. The night we were there ferals took over the camp kitchen and left it in a mess, where to these people come from?

Amenities are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, disabled facilities. Mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, no sites with annex slabs, no sites are shaded, ensuite sites available, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, wireless internet is available is free, you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra. Quiet, open & roomy park, inadequate shade, a few permanent/annual vans. Clean UC gas BBQs, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground. Clean pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe, park is considered suitable for mobility impaired persons.

Lightning Ridge had received approximately 12 inches of rain in the week leading up to our arrival, as evidenced by the amount of water on the sides of the road all the way from Walgett. With this park being predominantly gravel, this ensured that all sites were relatively bog-free. A credit to the managers of this park - sites and facilities and amenities were always spotless. As previously mentioned - DO BOOK - this place is busy and you may just be disappointed if you simply roll-up expecting a site. Overall, one of the best parks we have stayed at.
Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good value for money $36 for 2A PN, powered. Paid $32.40, reduced for Top Parks Chain Discount. Amenities are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, no sites with annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, ensuite sites available, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good camp kitchen, kiosk, disabled facilities, car wash, dump point, secure entry, van parking, wireless internet is available is free, you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4. Quiet, open & roomy park, adequate shade, no permanent/annual vans. Clean UC gas BBQs are free, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground. Clean pool, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for few days, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe, park is considered suitable for mobility impaired persons.
Liked:- Large, wide sites. Showers were roomy and had glass doors. All facilities and amenities are spotlessly clean.
Parking:- Adequate parking area whilst checking in.
Added Touches:- Shuttle bus into town during the day. Car and caravan washing area. Front desk will book tours for guests and tour buses will pick up from this park.
Local Information:- So much to see and do - some quirky, interesting characters in this town. Local tourist information centre is very helpful. Bowling club has great meals. Walk-In Mine was good to see, however, at $20 per person, was a bit steep - most other places were $5 each. Car Door Tour is a must do!
Road Conditions:- Road conditions were a bit average, however the region had experienced significant rain in the week leading up to our time in Lightning Ridge. Nothing significantly out of the ordinary for an area such as this.

When you drive into Lightning Ridge you wonder what you have landed in- quite a shoddy looking town at first but don't judge this book by its cover! Our kids have their own "rating" system for every park we stay at and this one is in their top five! We stayed in an ensuite site and there was plenty of room in there. All sites are drive through. There had been quite a lot of rain the days before we arrived so some areas were quite muddy however the actual sites were well drained.
Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good value for money $60 for 2A 20C PN, ensuite. Paid $55, reduced for Top Tourist discount. Good camp kitchen, kiosk, dump point, secure entry. Quiet, open & roomy park, no permanent/annual vans. Clean UC BBQs, congenial bbq area atmosphere. Clean pool. Suitable for few days, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Liked:- Fantastic park and we loved the fossicking area down the back of the park, even if it was really muddy. Sites were huge too!
Added Touches:- Tour buses can pick you up from reception to do some of the local tours. Walking distance to the artesian pools that are opened almost 24 hours!
Local Information:- This town is such a surprise filled with characters. Cannot recommend highly enough the Chamber of the Black Hand underground tour. The pizzas from Bruno's were delicious and we had to have takeaway as they were booked out.

Agree with what has been said earlier. This park caters for all sized rigs (we are 54ft) and the traveller who travels with their fur babies. Spotless facilities with everything you could need including operational dump point. Great park and no need to go anywhere else unless the park is full. Note poor road conditions from Walget to Lightning. Advised to reduce speed. We were airborne at times due to uneven surfaces. If travelling on motorbike extreme caution to road surfaces and animals on road.

This is as good as it gets out this way. The sites are all drive through and big enough for any sized rig. All sites and roads are clean gravel (no dust or mud) and the amenities block is the best we have seen for many years. It is a 20 min walk into town. $31.50 with your Top Tourist discount is very reasonable . Don't even consider staying anywhere else in Lightening Ridge!

Opal Caravan Park is only about 3 years old, and seems to have been designed with the needs of the caravan traveller in mind. Large level sites, all drive through, with power, water and sullage close to hand. Wide roads make entry to the sites easy. The park was apparently built up by half a metre or so, but original trees have been well protected. We certainly had a very shady site. The park is mainly gravelled, but areas around the camp kitchen, pool and clothes lines have green lawns. All the expected extras are there - well laid out amenities block, a large laundry (and a climate that gets clothes dry in a short time, though there are dryers), camp kitchen, barbecues, immaculate swimming pool, dump point etc. Simple needs like tour bookings and gas cylinder refills are all done with a smile. The town hot pool is about 200 metres from the park, and its available 22 hours a day at no cost. The only negative we had was the Wednesday evening entertainer. His jokes, and some of his songs were quite inappropriate for the large numbers of children there, and we got sick of his jokes (including racist) and left half way through. (I do appreciate that entertainers change from time to time.) In a town that has some very shoddy buildings, this park stands out as being well built, well run and a real oasis.

It is very hard to fault this Park at all. It has been very well designed with all drive-through sites which are level and generous, the amenities are immaculate as is the laundry which has plenty of washing machines and 6 rotary clothes hoists. "The Ridge" is an Interesting town & there is lots for the tourist to keep occupied. At $34 p.n for 2 adults, powered it is excellent value for this well organised and maintained park, and we look forward to a return visit.

This park is without doubt the benchmark for the industry. It does have the benefit of being new but the high standard of fit out has been well maintained. Flat sites, easy drive through, good size and wide roads. Great dump point with a car wash bay that has good water flow. The amenities are big and well laid out. The showers have plenty of room with a good amount of shelves and lots of hot water. At $30 a night for a powered site (after discount) it was good value by comparison to other parks encountered along the way (for the same price). It is quiet and just down the road from the Artesian Baths. The only downside is that the ground is very hard and almost impossible to drive a peg into. But this park has that covered as well and provides a drill to put up any annexes or other things that need a peg or three. Staff were very friendly and professional, providing lots of information about the area. An interesting place made all the more pleasant because of this high quality caravan park.

A very new and very big caravan park in Top Tourist group. Bookings recommended otherwise join the queue of hopefuls. Friendly welcome with tourist advice given. Whole park is gravel except lawn area near camp kitchen and firepit. Hammering in pegs is a task, but a drill is available at office. All size rigs catered for. The amenities has wow factor - glass shower doors and huge drying space. Mobile 5 bands, internet a bit intermittent. Recommend the car door tours and artesian pools just across the road, but take it slowly.

What a great spot on the edge of town. Quiet, large sites, very good amenities and very friendly staff. No grassed sites but good clean gravel sites and driveways. Mgt will assist with a hammer drill if you need to use tent pegs!. This CP is a few minutes walk to the artesian hot baths and tour buses all pickup and drop off at the door. Dogs allowed with normal rules and during our 4 night stay we had no issues with the numerous dogs on site. Telstra connection was OK but the free wifi was very limited. Overall a good CP ina town that is really opening up for the tourists. Would definitely stay again

The facilities are fantastic, great pool, huge drive through sites, Camp Kitchen, Laundry, Happy Hour Fire and on the list goes. Other reviews give you more details. The best amenities we have encountered in all our travels around Australia. Cannot think of any real improvements that the owners could make. Sure, being a relatively new park the trees are still small but growing quickly. The only comment is that the top few inches all over the park are gravel, great for drainage but almost impossible to drive tent pegs through. Reception have a hammer drill readily available which gets over this problem. Highly recommended.
