Colour City Caravan Park, Orange

Click here for park details on My Park List
From Bathurst turn into McLachlan Street and follow to end, (Margaret St), turn left and entry is 250m on right, next to showground. This park is part of the showgrounds and overlooks the main arena. It is not easy to find if you don't know your way around Orange. A railway line runs through the town and there are only a few roads that cross the railway, but once you get into McLachlan head right to the end and away from the town centre, turn left into Margaret and the park is on the right. If you come in on the Northern Distributor from Dubbo turn right into Leeds Parade and you will see it on the left. Ph: 02 6362 7254. Dogs on leash. Length of stay for pets usually 3 days - longer stays at Managers discretion.

quite a nice park, next to the showground. the noisy seasonal workers seem to be now placed on the other side of the showground, so they were not a problem. there was one permanent couple who were a bit noisy with the odd screaming match. there is also some train and truck noise, but not too bad.
Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money $27 for 2A PN, powered, peak season. Amenities are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, separate bathroom, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to some sites, shade to some sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good camp kitchen, dump point, you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Optus, reception quality was 4. Noisy, open & roomy park, adequate shade, a few permanent/annual vans. Clean UC gas BBQs, bbq area lighting. No playground. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park.

I think tired is the best description for this park, but quiet enough unless the rugby grounds in use. We had a drive through site, where they allowed us to straddle 2 sites that were back to back, as it was very quiet.

Overnighted here. Large park. Good access to sites. Ours was a lovely level concrete block. All amenities OK. Some drive throughs, we had a drive in/back out site and with the 28ft van, it was quite manageable. Staff OK - Not overly enthusiastic, but pleasant enough. $26.00 PN 2A. No discounts. OK for a stopover. Main street a 15 minute walk away. Two very noisy trains came through. Park OK but not in a big hurry to go there again.

This is a council owned park with permanents and attached to a sports ground (horse associated sports?). It is good value at $24 for 2A/night. Our site had good shade and a concrete slab with power, water & sulllage close by. Some of the larger sites (a 40ft motorhome was on one) have new pads but no shade. The amenity block was kept clean, though needing refurbishment. There is a dump point nearby. The camp kitchen was basic but satisfactory and clean. There was a small laundry. The park is a short walk to a small supermarket but you may prefer to drive to the city centre. There is plenty to see around Orange and this caravan park is a good base to see it from.
