Have to endorse the previous comments. When you think of what this park was like, this is a miracle with great credit to Deb and Kev. Everything the grey nomad could possibly want is here in this little caravan park, which is a member of KUI Parks. We paid $46 for 2A 2 nights drive thru powered site. The adults only entertainment area is outstanding. No wonder it is becoming difficult to just rock on up for a night. Book ahead!

Kui Parks are building a reputation for a franchise that offers grey nomads the sort of park and prices that they could easily get used to. Double D at Peak Hill is what you would wish all caravan parks to be - ultra friendly reception (which doesn't end when you've paid for your site), drive through sites, pancakes for breakfast, Happy Hour, Pizza night, car windscreens cleaned, Kui park discount or 7 for 6 if staying longer at $156/week. Kevin and Deb have recently taken over a rather run-down park and elevated it to a must-go destination. Miniature rescue horses and chooks in the back of a smallish but well laid out park. Doggie spa bath, Pizza Saturday nights, pancake breakfast every morning, Happy Hour with nibbles around a fire Friday night, all free, but (after many suggestions from guests) the park has recently started a gold coin donation box, proceeds going to the local cancer care. Amenities are ultra clean, and the showers spacious and modern; Kev and Deb even provide floor mats for use in the drying area. We normally stop in Dubbo when hitting this area, but recent increases in site fees in larger towns made us look elsewhere, and we're glad we did. (And besides, our favorite shaslick shop in Dubbo has closed down!) Peak Hill is a friendly town, and local traders seem to be becoming motivated by Kev and Deb's enthusiasm, the butcher for instance changing his mind about closing down and offering a great range of affordable meats. Easy distance to towns of Parkes and Forbes in the south and Dubbo to the north, all around 45 minutes away. The only drawback is they don't allow husbands to stay after the wife has driven the van away. "You brought him, he goes back with you!"

We didn't stay at this park (due to time constraints) but came across it on a day trip from Wellington. We asked the new owners (Kevin & Deb - been there 7 weeks) for a look around. They happily guided us thru the park showing us an excellent camp kitchen, tidy, level drive thru sites, dog bath area & generally a well maintained park with all the expected facilities. We look forward to staying there sometime soon.

You know when you arrive at a park and you get a lovely friendly reception, and everything is positive from there? Well this is what happened to us at this park. After a genuinely welcoming greeting, paying $29 P/N 2A powered, we picked a level site with a concrete slab to park van on. All sites drive through and easy to negotiate around park. Amenities were clean, good condition, great hot water and good quality TP! Washing machines were $2 per load, and there were 2 clothes lines begging for use. Away from the highway it was lovely and quiet at night. Good, screened enclosed camp kitchen, great TV reception and internet Telstra and Optus. Peak Hill town has some surprisingly interesting shops. Antique and old wares - huge, fantastic and cheap community craft shop (the lady knitters are artists-beautiful work), and a shop with models of every type of car, planes, action figures that you could imagine. Big RSL offers meals and bevies. Everyone we encountered were so friendly and chatty, we had a great experience in this town.

Great little park. Shower block nice & clean $26 a night for 2 people. Concrete slab to put your van on . The town has some interesting buildings, lots of antiques and craft. Unfortunately quite a few shops are closed down. Towns like this need more tourists stopping by & staying in the caravan parks. They are always so friendly, so come on travellers, support these quaint little towns.
