Magnetic Gateway Holiday Village - Cluden, Townsville

Click here for park details on My Park List
Although the address is Bruce Hwy there is no direct access from the Hwy as the entrance is via Racecourse Rd. From S turn right into Abbott St towards Cluden/Railway Estate off the Bruce Hway. Turn right immediately into Racecourse Rd (continuation from across the railway line - so don't be decieved). Turn right into Minehan St and follow to end of street where entrance to park will be found. If you cross the railway line on the Bruce Hway, you have gone too far. The turn into Abbott St is just before the railway crossing. Ph: 07 4778 2412 or 1800 004 366. Top Tourist member. Pets at manager's discretion.

A very nice park with good clean large amenities . Excellent camp kitchen . Nicely laid grounds with raised concrete pads and crowned sealed roads to remove wet season rainwater. Good unpowered section with plenty of grass and largish area. No problem's finding this place just look at the google earth shots before arriving I would say a GPS would cause problems finding it due to recent road works. Access to city is turn right into Abbot St which takes you straight into the city. We will most certainly return. Suitable for a long stay.

The greeting at reception made me feel like a necessary burden. Not a good start after being hopelessly lost for 40 minutes trying to find the place. We had a map and GPS - both wrong. People arriving minutes after us said they'd been lost for an hour with outdated map and GPS - Google maps helped. Recent extensive roadwork has cut many streets in two and made crossing motorways impossible. Most sites have a 30cm high concrete bollard, disguised as a sullage drain. They are located the width of a van plus 50cm from your elevated slab. They are painted yellow to help you quickly identify what tore the pipework out of your van while you were backing on site. There is good grass on most sites and it is maintained. There is quite a reasonable pool but the bottom is stained or dirty. There are about 15 parks in the Townsville area. Choose one which can be easily located.

Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good value for money $36 for 2A PN, powered. Paid $32.40, reduced for top park member. Amenities are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, annex slabs to most sites, shade to some sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. You can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Optus, reception quality was 4. Quiet, open & roomy park, adequate shade, a few permanent/annual vans. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park.

This is a large well maintained park just off the Bruce Highway, some 8kms from the CBD. Lots of road works happening in the area so finding the entrance to the park was a tad difficult. Very friendly and helpful management. Very large slab sites and even larger grass sites. Small number of permanent vans. 2 x Amenity blocks which are in good condition and clean. 2 x laundry areas and camp kitchen. 2 x BBQs. There is a small pool which is shaded. Dump point. New shopping centre with a Woolworths supermarket and petrol station is close by. We paid $30.60 for 2A on a powered site with Top Tourist discount.

This park has been a favorite of ours for its friendly staff. A well maintained park which is also dog friendly. The amenities although adequate for the number of sites need renovating. The laundry has new machines $4 per load. All sites seem to be level with some slabs and grassed. Shady sites nearer the amenities. A well situated park for attractions and shopping. Major Bruce Highway roadworks in the front of the park was a little noisy. The entrance to this park will be altered when the roadworks are completed. Water pressure was good. Telstra carrier excellent. Top Tourist discount applies. As usual a pleasant month long stay.
