Hamiltons Crossing Campground, Baringhup

7 km from the small township of Baringhup, on the Baringhup West-Eastville Road, or 5.5 km south of the Bridgewater-Maldon Road, as you cross over the Loddon River. Pets allowed.

Just a campground beside the Loddon River. No amenities, no fresh water. The beauty of it was that it is flat, green (when everywhere else at that time was dry and brown), shady in places, and very quiet (except for the zillions of sulphur-crested cockatoos that came to roost at night, but that's the beauty of Australia, too). Baringhup Caravan Park is only 7 km away and has a store for basic supplies, fuel, and swap n go gas bottles ($20 for 4.5 kg bottle). There is an unmarked walking track to the west of the campground that follows the river through a farmer's paddock - be responsible if walking along the track.
