NSW, Port Macquarie, Riverside Resort

Date of Stay: October 2014 Rating: 3
Very small park, right on the Hastings River. Very well kept and amenities are very clean. The noise is the biggest factor as Hastings River Drive is a very busy road and there are quite a number of small planes which fly directly overhead daily. It is fairly quiet at night though so wasn't too much of a problem. The staff are very friendly and helpful and it cost us $150 on a powered site for 7 days.

Great pool & spa, very good amenities which are fairly new but the rest of the park is pretty ordinary. Traffic noise can be horrendous depending on where you are in the park and was the topic of conversation of others wandering around the park. The washing machines are good but very expensive at $5 for a cold wash, $6 for a warm wash- I didn't try a hot wash but presume this would be $7. Couldn't find the washing lines and when I asked staff they told me that there was a tiny area which was already full. According to ground staff the management don't want washing lines as they are ugly. They would prefer you to use the dryers. Everything on the Gold Coast is an easy drive from here as you are so near the motorway.

Qld, Brisbane, Newmarket Gardens Caravan Park - Newmarket

Date of Stay: September 2014 Rating: 2.5
Very handy park for getting around Brisbane. We had a site opposite the amenities block and the smell of diesel fumes every day was very off putting. Apparently this is used for their hot water system. Not a lot of room between the sites and very tight to back onto the sites. Not a holiday park but it's location and ease of getting into the city are really what it is all about.

Qld, Rockhampton, Gracemere Caravan Park

What a lovely little park this is. Roomy sites, very clean amenities, nice pool, friendly staff. We only had 2 nights here but would certainly come back and favor here over Rockhampton parks in future.

This is our second visit to this park. Very well kept park. We had an ensuite site on this visit. Very clean and tidy although a bit dated. Friendly staff willing to help with tourist information. Great walking paths all around the park.

SA, Victor Harbor, Victor Harbor Holiday and Cabin Park

Stayed for 5 nights and although the staff were very helpful on the telephone when booking the site did not continue in that vein. Our site had branches overhanging and hitting the roof and solar panel of the van. When asked if they would mind trimming the tree was told the maintenance person was busy and would get to it later. Two days and three requests later , he finally trimmed the tree. The attitude of the staff left a lot to be desired. The amenities block floor was very uneven and they taped a rug over the uneven tiles when the tape lifted this became an even bigger problem. Hot water ran out during a shower in the middle of the day. All in all not the best stay in a park.

Very friendly staff when booking in. Sites are very shady. We had an ensuite site and they are very old and dated but clean. Very close to town but a quiet park. Huge indoor pool and spa. A little more maintenance around the park and an update to the amenities would not go astray.

Vic, Marcus Hill, BIG4 Bellarine Holiday Park

Date of Stay: February 2014 Rating: 3.5
Very large sites with not a lot of shade anywhere. Great camp kitchen area. The amenities would certainly not cope in peak periods. The biggest drawback to this park would be the fact that they have incorporated individual dump points behind each van. Can you imagine sitting outside the van enjoying your coffee and your neighbour behind decides to empty his cassette? Never seen anything like this before and hope never to again. Thankfully, the park was quiet when we were there and we didn't have anyone around us.

Vic, Apollo Bay, Pisces Holiday Park

A very well maintained caravan park with maintenance staff busy the whole time we were there. Spotless amenities which are only close to some sites and a fair walk from others. We had an ensuite site which was modern and clean. A pleasant place to stay for a few days.

NSW, Sydney, Poplar Tourist Park - Camden

Date of Stay: May 2013 Rating: 3.5
We came back to Camden and in the interests of fairness decided to check out whether the problems here had been solved. I'm glad to say all was well and I would recommend the park for a week or longer to anyone visiting the area.
