NSW, Cobar, Cobar Caravan Park

Date of Stay: March 2014 Rating: 2.5
We have used this park for many years as a stop-over or 2 nighter on our way over and back to SA. The park was taken over a couple of years ago and fees immediately went from $24 to $32 PN. They are now a whopping $35.00 PN and the park is in worse condition than it was 2 years ago. It was only about a 1/4 full- less than we've ever seen it before, certainly due to the high cost. Out of town free camps were full.
Average staff friendliness, no complaints. Poor value for money $35 for 2A, powered. Amenities are close to only some sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, annex slabs to most sites, shade to most sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, basic camp kitchen, you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra. Noisy, open & roomy park, adequate shade, no permanents. Dirty gas BBQ, fuel costs $1. Suitable for overnighter.
Disliked:- High cost, overgrown grass, dirty slabs. Park needs more daily maintenance.

NSW, Broken Hill, Broken Hill Tourist Park

Large park with a variety of site types on various surfaces. very crowded and noisy. Extortionist price structure includes 3 tiered costs PN. $37.00 for a standard site, $39.00 for a drive thru site and $35.00 for sites adjacent to bordering highway. It is obvious that they have a "captive market" as the standard of the park and its facilities simply does not warrant such high site fees.
Average staff friendliness, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Poor value for money $37 for 2A PN, powered. Amenities are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, very few annex slabs, shade to some sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, basic rec room, basic camp kitchen, you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5. Noisy, claustrophobic park, inadequate shade, no permanents. Clean UC electric BBQ. Basic playground, in average condition. Clean pool, pool is shaded, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for few days, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe, park is considered suitable for mobility impaired persons.
Liked:- Proximity to town.
Disliked:- Far too expensive and staff insistence that small vans go into small sites despite same cost as big vans.
Parking:- Large check-in parking area inside park.

Manager's name is Geoff & Sarah Hill. This is a small, very quiet, delightful park in a historic little village only 2 km. off the busy Newell. Owners are extremely friendly and will even share a cuppa or drink and supply scones, jam & cream. Park has some slabs and/or very well kept lawned sites, some are drive through. Park also has a swimming pool and a penned pet area for dogs to roam. They even offer a pet minding service for those that want to visit the national park where pets are not allowed. The amenities, including the laundry, are spotless and are adequate for the size of the park. Soap and paper towels provided. Good value for money, $24.00 per night for 2 adults. Some shade and several free BBQ's sprinkled around. No camp kitchen. Great base to visit the Warrumbungles and suitable for a 2 to 5 day stay. We will always make a point of staying when we are on this route.
Liked:- Quiet, clean, very friendly inexpensive Park.
