Qld, Mount Garnet, Mount Garnet Travellers Park

Date of Stay: July 2016 Rating: 3
The park is located on the old township site of Tabo. At the back of the park are remnants of the settlement comprising on site vans and is occupied by aboriginal people. The permanents were quiet and you hardly knew they were there.

Liked:- The park has a quiet bush setting with lots of native trees. There are fire places for those camping. In the mornings there was the great smell of toast being cooked over an open fire.
Local Information:- At present Mount Garnet is the town with no pub. There is little to see unless you are prepared to undertake long drives on unsealed roads. But it is good for a couple of days to catch your breath. No dump point could limit your stay. The nearest ones are at Ravenshoe and Mount Surprise.
Road Conditions:- Coming from the east the roads are good.

Qld, Atherton, BIG4 Atherton Woodlands Tourist Park - Atherton

Date of Stay: April 2016 Rating: 4.5
We would like to agree with all that Pidgo has said. We have just spent two weeks here, five days with a group of forty staying in caravans and cabins. The staff were extremely helpful ensuring that we had an uncomplicated and enjoyable time. While I was setting up the tension stay of my awning pulled away from the van and Shane, in between parking vans and other duties, helped me get it fixed. The men's amenities block was undergoing complete renovation so men and women had to share. This work should be completed in a few days and then it is the ladies turn. If you wanted a bit more privacy they opened up their new ensuites. There are three of them in a separate block and it has its own small laundry. This is a very peaceful park to explore the Tablelands.

Qld, Hervey Bay, Lazy Acres Caravan Park - Torquay

Date of Stay: February 2016 Rating: 3.5
Common to most Hervey Bay parks there are a lot of regulars. But these have their own section and do not disturb tourists and vise versa. There seems to have been a lot of recent work undertaken in recent times. The ensuite so look new. There is a new amenities block in the tourist section and the camp kitchen also looks new.
Friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money $180 for 2A PW, powered, off-peak season. Amenities are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Good laundry, no rec room, good camp kitchen, disabled facilities, dump point, secure entry, book swap available, no wireless internet available., you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5. Quiet, open & roomy park, inadequate shade, many permanent/annual vans. Clean UC gas BBQs are free, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Basic playground, in good condition. Clean pool, pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered suitable for mobility impaired persons.
Liked:- There is a new amenities block where most of the tourist sites are that are a pleasure to use. Apart from the disabled suite each section consists of two toilets and two showers. Each are huge compared to normal park facilities. The showers seem to be ate least three metres by one metre. Shower curtains are provided and those reach to the floor. The only down side is not bench space over the hand basins.
Disliked:- The roads are a bit narrow and while work has been done to widen the corners, I still found that I had to be careful when negotiating them with my long van.
Parking:- Park in the driveway. There is room for only one van at a time but the park is in a quiet street.

NSW, Karuah, Karuah Caravan Park

Date of Stay: March 2015 Rating: 4
I just want to make a few observations from our recent stay. The area where most of the powered sites are located is in a small depression. The degree of level ranges from 'how am I going to get it level' to 'I might have to dig the jockey wheel in', to 'not too bad'. The amenities block opposite our site would not be able to cope in peak times. There are only two toilets and two showers for about thirty sites. The amenities seem to have been recently renovated, but have one major flaw. There are no dykes to prevent the dissipation of water from the showers. The end shower flows into the adjoining recess and the water from that one floods into the next door toilet and out into the common area where there is a drain. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay and found the staff friendly and helpful.

NSW, Coffs Harbour, Clog Barn Caravan Park

Date of Stay: March 2015 Rating: 3.5
There are only about twenty or so tourist sites, some of which seemed to be occupied by long term tenants. There are a number of permanents who were friendly and no problem, and quite a few cabins. I would advise anyone staying there to read the evacuation notice because it refers to evacuation procedures for flash flooding, not fire. There is a small tidal creek at the back of the property and this is where the tourist sites are located.
Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money $35 for 2A PN, off-peak season. Amenities are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Inadequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, very few annex slabs, shade to some sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, no rec room, basic camp kitchen, dump point, no wireless internet available., you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5. Quiet, open & roomy park, inadequate shade, many permanent/annual vans. Clean UC gas BBQs are free, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground. Clean pool, pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, toddlers catered for. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park.
Liked:- Despite being on the highway the tourist area was very quiet because they are protected by cabins and other buildings that line the front of the park. The amenities were obviously designed to cater for a greater number of tourists so has plenty of showers and toilets and is very clean. The sites vary in size. The first one we were allocated would have put our tow ball in the middle of the road way. The next had plenty of room.
Disliked:- The roadways are narrow and some sites could be difficult to reverse into.
Parking:- There is a car park for the barn and room in the entrance of the park.
Added Touches:- The caravan park is part of a tourist attraction where they demonstrate clog making, and sell them. There is also a model village where all the buildings are scale models of actual Dutch buildings. It is well worth a visit and is free (donation towards costs appreciated. The buildings are made with fibreglass walls onto which are attached thousands of tiny 'bricks', one by one. So each building takes hundreds of hours to construct.

Qld, Daintree, Daintree Riverview Lodges and Van Park

Date of Stay: August 2014 Rating: 4
Just an update on previous reports. Peter and Sally are still in charge and are extremely pleasant and accommodating. If you want to be near the amenities then go for the upper section otherwise you have to climb a steep set of steps or walk round the roadway from the wharf area. The only downside is the lack of a dump point. Heavy penalties apply for using the amenities to empty your toilet. The nearest dump point is at Mossman, 40 odd kilometres away. It is located in the car park adjacent to the Mossman caravan park and pool. Coming from Daintree you take the first street on the left over the bridge at the edge of town. The dump is just round the corner.

Whether by accident or design this park attracts the grey nomads who are looking for a quiet place with good facilities, excellent staff and friendly company.

Liked:- Large grassed sites and friendly people, many of who come and stay for extended periods and very welcome to newcomers. There is no playground but staff and campers have cooperated to install an exercise area using working equipment scrounged from the local tip recycling station. Great happy hour each afternoon.
Disliked:- Having to leave.
Parking:- Drive in, if office closed find a spot and park. Red cones mean sites reserved. Certain sites, identified on board are set aside for those with pets. Be in before 6pm as the gates are locked, securing the park.
Added Touches:- Every so often they put on a $2 feed.

Qld, Airlie Beach, Seabreeze Tourist Park

Date of Stay: July 2014 Rating: 3.5
Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff helped us at the site. Reasonable value for money $245 for 2A PW, powered, peak season. Amenities are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to most sites, very few sites are shaded, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Quiet, claustrophobic park, adequate shade, no permanents. Clean electric BBQs are free, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground. Suitable for a week or more.
Liked:- The staff were very friendly. The camp kitchen was large and used for entertainment most nights.
Disliked:- The roads, recently concreted were narrow. The newer part of the park did not have all the utilities completed so there was doubling up with the power and water. This resulted in at least one power outage each day. Hopefully the work will be completed by next season. The sites do not have sufficient space between to park tow vehicles and you only have a narrow frontage for parking, aggravated if you have a 4x4 on each side. The new amenities block consist of five male and female ensuites with additional toilets. The ensuites are triangular rooms with no interior walls. Mops are provided but all they do is spread the water as the are impossible to wring out.

Quiet, open & roomy park, a few permanents. Clean pool, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a week or more.
Liked:- The park is clean and well grassed. Even the permanents were friendly.
Disliked:- The park was in a dead spot for mobile reception, although there were lots of areas in Mount Morgan where there was average reception.
Local Information:- The town/mine tour is informative and good value. Pick up is from the park.
Road Conditions:- We came in from the west and the roads were reasonably good country roads. Heading to, or coming from the coast the normal range road is closed for extensive road works. The alternative is the Razorback road. It is easily negotiated from either Baldercombe or Gracemere and there is one steep section.

Qld, Mackay, Andergrove Van Park

Date of Stay: May 2014 Rating: 4
There are a number of permanents in the park but they have a separate area. Many sites have wheel slabs for the caravan which means level parking. The park may seem a bit out of the way but it is an easy drive to a variety of major or minor shopping centres.

Liked:- We found the staff friendly and attentive and ever active in maintaining the grounds and facilities.
Parking:- There is plenty of parking for booking in. The driveway from the road to the office is long so half a dozen vans or more could line up if need be.
