SA, Renmark, Riverbend Caravan Park

Date of Stay: April 2016 Rating: 2.5
This park is suitable for small - medium vans only. It is Not suitable for Big Rigs. The park does have a nice relaxed feel and beside the river is lovely. Unfortunately when we booked they had temporary managers who had no idea about rig sizes. They did not explain about the very difficult entry into the park for our 10m 5th wheeler. While some sites are grassy, we had to park on a site which had loose red dirt at our door. Not a great place to sit and enjoy a drink in the afternoon! The water is not of a drinkable quality. It is unfiltered river water. Park managers told us not to drink the water when checking into the park - but you are still showering in it and even washing clothes and dishes in it! We could smell it on our skin after a shower! They do provide a tank for drinking water at the amenity block. When exiting the park we had to use the In Gate and cross onto the wrong side of the road to get up the driveway. A nice park for small vans but we will not be back.

This is a very nice park and only a short drive to town. Staff were very helpful and friendly and gave us a drive through site for our 10m 5th wheeler at the standard site rate even though we were happy to pay the extra $4 for a drive through. They have spent a fortune upgrading the park. There are plenty of facilities for children while being far enough away from the sites not to bother retirees. We will definitely be back.

The park has been extended and a lot of new sites added. It is not yet completed. They have added extensive landscaping. Sites are covered in a good size Riverland Limestone type rock which does not get picked up in shoes etc. Sites are a good size for most vans with a row of longer sites for 5th wheelers and buses, We had not problem fitting our 10m 5th wheeler on our site. We will be back. The park is conveniently located and an easy drive to anywhere.
Very friendly staff. Good value for money $32 for 2A PN, powered. Amenities are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, no sites with annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, basic camp kitchen, no wireless internet available., you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4. Noisy, open & roomy park, inadequate shade, a few permanent/annual vans. No playground. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park.
Liked:- Plenty of room. Sites easy to negotiate into. Staff happy to accommodate. Very clean even though it is still under construction.
Disliked:- The park is right on the highway so some road noise is expected. Didn't bother us.
Parking:- Parking lane for check in.

The park is well set out and maintained as one would expect from a BIG4 park with all of the usual features including jumping castle, in-ground pool, clean bbqs and camp kitchen. Nice flat grass sites suitable for big rigs. The park advertises that they have a dump point and there are signs at the amenities indicating the location. However - this dump point is not suitable for access by 5th wheelers or larger motor homes due to its poor location. It is suitable for portable cassettes only and even then I would have concerns about using the facility which is just an open grate with no cover. Using this facility in a hygienic manner would be difficult.
