Liked:- At this time of the year it was empty. Short bush walking trails from back of the park. Unpowered areas at the back looked nice, amongst the paperbark trees.
Disliked:- I thought it rather expensive for off peak at $37, but it is probably the area. Some traffic noise during the day.
Parking:- One painted parking spot for vans checking in. Otherwise you just park behind them. Could be painful when busy as you'd be queuing into the main road.

Liked:- Reasonable price even though it was school holidays.
Disliked:- Not on the lake, you can just see it from the van park. Though you can go to a separate part of the park which is about 1km away, on the lake for unpowered sites. Though this is not clear when you check in.
Parking:- Pull in off the main road & stop by the cabins. Office is in the house passed the swimming pool.
Local Information:- The unpowered area seems to have recently ungraded, with an amenities block & has a secure access boom gate. This area is on the water & close to the boat ramp.

Qld, Birdsville, Birdsville Free Camping Area

Date of Stay: September 2017 Rating: 4
A huge area outside the town towards the river & race course. Park anywhere. There are water taps along the road which are free to fill up from, good quality water. Two dump points on opposite sides of town. Small charge for use of showers near caravan park in town (during race time at least). Reasonable road from Bedourie to Birdsville, now on 60km of well graded dirt. Birdsville Track was good on the Queensland side of border, rougher heading to Mungerannie South Australia, though there were plenty of caravans doing the drive. From Betoota the road has some sealed sections & reasonably graded dirt. Not sure of the road condition beyond the Haddon Corner turn off though (through to Windorah).

Qld, St George, St George River Front Tourist Park

Date of Stay: September 2017 Rating: 2
This park has been Renamed; St. George Riverside Tourist Park, though both names are at the entrance to the park, a bit confusing. Only about 18 powered sites. There are many unpowered sites, some by the river, others on a semi grassed area at the bottom of the slope, before you get to the river.
Average staff friendliness, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money $28 for 2A, powered, peak season. Amenities are close to only some sites, cleanliness was average, condition is good, soap provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, some unlevel sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, no sites with annex slabs, shade to some sites, adequate sullage close by. Poor laundry, no rec room, no camp kitchen, no wireless internet available. carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 3. Quiet, open & roomy park, adequate shade, a few permanent/annual vans. No playground. No pool. Suitable for few days.
Liked:- Right on the river. You can walk along the river for a way.
Disliked:- Water is near to some sites, but not suitable to go into the van (it is untreated river water), though you are allowed to fill up at the rain water tank by the laundry. You'll need to request this on arrival. Only one male & one female toilet, shower combo.
Added Touches:- The park advertises that you can hire boats, canoes, that they make damper nightly, but we didn't see boats or any obvious "get togethers". Fire pits at each site.
Road Conditions:- Access road off highway is dirt, but in reasonable condition.

Qld, Cunnamulla, Charlotte Plains Station

Date of Stay: September 2017 Rating: 3
Power & water is limited, if not required for camping, the bore would be nicer place to stay. There is the old shearing shed & a fenced dam close to the powered site areas. There are only about 4 or 5 powered sites. There is no TV or internet access, but you can go to the homestead to check email if needed.
Friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money $32 for 2A PN, powered, shoulder season. Amenities are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is poor, water pressure is bad / Variable pressure experienced, there was adequate hot water. Inadequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, no sites with annex slabs, shade to some sites, poor water quality, adequate sullage close by. Basic rec room, basic camp kitchen, no wireless internet available., mobile wireless not available. Quiet, open & roomy park, adequate shade, no permanent/annual vans. No playground. No pool.
Liked:- Quiet, & the artesian bore baths were fun. There is a large fire pit area which has assorted chairs, tables & cooking plates that you can use.
Disliked:- The amenities were old, tired & basic (old shearers quarters). There was minimal water access. One tap nearest to the camping was unsuitable for using in the caravan. You could access rain water in the camp kitchen/ rec room, but limited supply. I recommend you bring your own water.
Parking:- Pull in near to station homestead, go through the gate & shout loudly for help.
Added Touches:- On offer was station tours, a small museum in the old homestead, & meals with the family for an additional cost. The artesian bores were further into the station, where you could camp with out any power or water. There were very basic toilet & shower facilities here. The bore is free flowing & you can swim or soak just up from the pipes where the water has cooled slightly. Four old baths are also by the bore which you can fill & sit in to watch the sunset or star gaze.
Local Information:- About 40km to Cunnamulla.
Road Conditions:- There are 2 access roads in to the station, the one that is closer to Cunnamulla is a gravel road about 15km to the station. The second road is further east of Cunnamulla & a dirt road about 12km to the station. We were told that the dirt road would be better towing a caravan. It was very dusty, but in reasonable condition, just take it slow.

No wireless internet available., you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 3. Quiet, open & roomy park, adequate shade, no permanent/annual vans. No playground. No pool. Suitable for few days.
Liked:- Good price, fire rings if you have your own wood.
Disliked:- Cement slabs & water points didn't seem to be in quite the right place.
Parking:- The caravan park access isn't very obvious. It is on the right before you get to the hotel, if coming from Cunnamulla. It's a short dirt track, then left over a cattle grid. Pay at the hotel bar.
Local Information:- Artesian Mud baths are excellent, there are a couple of nature drives just out of town & fishing at the river.
