NSW, Bonny Hills, BIG4 Bonny Hills Holiday Park

Date of Stay: August 2017 Rating: 4.5
Great location for a lovely park. Reception (Fay) was very helpful and happy to assist with a good site. Even arranged for assistance from Chris to assist us set up. A powered site with full width green turf matting made for comfort inside and outside with no walking in of sand etc. This park is situated with the sound of the surf close by. A lovely beach walk to the surf club for coffee etc. Immaculate amenities (the best ever!), heated swimming pool (if only had brought swimmers); a spacious camp kitchen and BBQ area. Entertainment at 5pm by bush balladeer Errol Gray made for a very happy hour. Seniors card discount of 10% and payment for 1 night was $35. A longer stay for sure next time.

NSW, Karuah, Big4 Karuah Jetty

Date of Stay: August 2017 Rating: 2.5
Park has few drive-through sites and/or ensuite sites. Ordinary sites were located on an area which is undergoing grass restoration and, as a result of recent watering/rain? the ground was quite damp and muddy. Uneven and sloping was a problem. Amenities situated within the camp kitchen were quite OK with microwave, bbq etc. but you had to walk through the camp kitchen and press a key code. Another ablution block and laundry were located in another part of the park. There was insufficient lighting in the day time to do this although the lights were switched on for the evening access to the toilets etc. The jetty is not of a safe nature and great care must be taken when walking along it. The uneven timbers and general level should not be promoted as child-safe. A disappointing park when expecting as advertised.

NSW, Tuncurry, Great Lakes Holiday Park

Date of Stay: August 2017 Rating: 4.5
This park is a hidden gem. Have never stayed there before but will be doing that later. The reception was modern and friendly. Reception provided an en-suite site for $40. Tractor was waiting at site to All roads paved and grounds are extremely well kept. Big pool under renovation, good playground and jumping castle in good order. Massive camp kitchen with well stocked accessories on hand, indoor gas BBQs, gas ranges, microwaves, fridges, tables and chairs and a TV lounge adjoins the camp kitchen. River front fishing popular, two boat ramps - something for everyone. A cafe convenience store serves breakfast and evening meals may be ordered. This is a very popular park as can be seen and our request to extend the stay was not possible - next time be sure to book.

Qld, Sunshine Coast, Noosa River Holiday Park - Noosaville

Date of Stay: June 2017 Rating: 3.5
This park has strictly enforced rules regarding time to book in. Arriving at 11am and our site was vacant, we were advised that we could not enter until 1pm. So had to join other vans outside in the roadway until it was deemed OK to book in. The park had 100% occupancy and was very busy. No assistance to site when parking. A lovely position right on the river bank made up for other problems. Amenities were never completely available as there was continual closures for maintenance work Amenities are very tired and dismal. One block had stickers advising of asbestos in the facility. No pool although as it was on the banks of the river perhaps it was thought unnecessary. BBQ located in camp- kitchen situated a fair distance at the edge of the park. Another one was in the picnic area. This park is situated in a beautiful area but too cramped when holidays are on.

Qld, Sunshine Coast, BIG4 Noosa Bougainvillia Caravan Park - Tewantin

Date of Stay: June 2017 Rating: 4
More than one amenity block and the older one is in need of refurbishment. Newer block is spotless and very modern. No site assistance offered when parking.
Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money $44 for 2A PN. Amenities are close to most sites, water pressure is good. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to most sites, shade to some sites, ensuite sites available. Basic laundry, good camp kitchen, dump point, you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 3. Open & roomy park. Clean UC gas BBQs are free, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting. Good playground. Clean pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park.
Liked:- Parking at reception was fine, friendly welcome. Large wide roads and grassy sites are very attractive. Grounds are neat and tidy. A good large camp kitchen was put to good use. Two swimming pools make for a popular park. Depending on the site allocated there was no trouble with noise.
Road Conditions:- The roads to the park were good but it was the navigation that took a bit of patience - so many roundabouts!!

NSW, Port Macquarie, NRMA Port Macquarie Breakwall Holiday Park

Date of Stay: February 2017 Rating: 2
Our previous report of this park (September 2014) still remains basically the same. Apparently new owners will/have taken over but it's a bit too early to see any changes. Only additional issue apart from the roadways is that there was no key or code for the toilets and thus door remained open 24/7. This is a bit of a worry when using the facilities at night time.

NSW, Twelve Mile Creek, Australian Motor Homes Tourist Park

Date of Stay: January 2017 Rating: 2.5
Average staff friendliness. Poor value for money $35 for 2A, powered. Inadequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, no sites with annex slabs, no sites are shaded. Poor laundry, no rec room, no camp kitchen, dump point, van parking carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 2. Noisy, claustrophobic park, many permanent/annual vans. No BBQs. No playground. No pool. Suitable for overnighter.
Liked:- After checking in was escorted to site.
Disliked:- Location was deciding factor. On closer inspection dilapidated sites were very obvious, e.g. makeshift awnings, bbqs etc. Very run down park. Demountable toilets and no hot water at hand basins, waste bins were overflowing and unemptied for some days. Showers were third world, need to wear thongs when using but at least hand basins had hot water.

NSW, Wollongong, Bulli Beach Tourist Park - Bulli

Date of Stay: January 2017 Rating: 3
Average staff friendliness, bad staff response to complaints. Reasonable value for money PW, powered. Paid $280. Amenities were dirty, condition is poor, water pressure is bad / Variable pressure experienced, there was inadequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, some unlevel sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, very few annex slabs, no sites are shaded, hard to negotiate into site. Poor laundry, no rec room, dump point carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4. Quiet, open & roomy park, inadequate shade, many permanent/annual vans. Basic playground, in average condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families.
Liked:- Location good, right beside the beautiful beach.
Disliked:- Site had a slope uphill for sullage! Two amenity blocks at each end of park. Smelly garbage bins right at front door of southern laundry and thereby difficult to access. The other laundry was a little better but very heavy doors weighed almost a ton, difficult to hold open with after pressing key code and with laundry basket on the hip. Unable to place clothes on line as the lines were rusted twisted wires. No one used the lines at all. Back to laundry to use dryer but not before wiping away cobwebs on machines and emptying and cleaning filters which were clogged. An idea to cleaners to perhaps look above eye level and remove cobwebs hanging down from everywhere. Very shabby. Shower timed for 5 minutes, but it would have been great to have this advice before entering shower cubicle!
Parking:- No parking assistance available when requested.
Local Information:- Great cafe situated in the park.

NSW, Port Macquarie, NRMA Port Macquarie Breakwall Holiday Park

Date of Stay: September 2014 Rating: 2
This park continues on its downward run. The only reason to stay there is its proximity to town etc. Having booked a site with a concrete slab it was expected to be normally sited beside the van. Not so! Were told that the van had to go on the slab, not beside it. Any annex was to be on the sandy dry, dirty plot beside us. After negotiating the roadways in the park, dodging the potholes and speed humps and drainage channels and extremely narrow roads to find that we were expected to set up on such a messy environment was not very pleasing. With a site fee of $39 per night at weekends it was a lesson that we will consider in future. Always check what you are paying for firstly. With tourism a major feature of the area perhaps councils should conduct inspections and ensure that the park is an asset to the area and its visitors.
Average staff friendliness, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Poor value for money $39 for 2A, powered. Amenities are close to only some sites, cleanliness was average, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Mostly unlevel sites, sites will accommodate small to medium vans, very few annex slabs, no sites are shaded, hard to negotiate into site. Poor laundry, late checkout allowed, secure entry, you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 3. Quiet, inadequate shade. UC electric BBQs are free. Suitable for overnighter.
Liked:- Its location.
Disliked:- Park grounds and sites were appalling.
Parking:- Hazardous and dangerous.

Qld, Barcaldine, Barcaldine Tourist Park

Date of Stay: May 2012 Rating: 3
If coming from south this is the first park on the right hand side of road. Very friendly reception and immediate assistance and guidance to park site and set up advice provided. Top Tourist park and rate of $26 2A powered reduces with discount of $2.60. Neat and clean surroundings, despite the red dust our sites had plenty of green lawn. Some sites a little narrower than others but if only staying overnight this causes no problems. Amenities were great unisex en-suite units while separate extra toilets provided no unnecessary waiting. Happy hour and entertainment well underway when we arrived with free billy tea and damper a popular attraction. Telstra Next G phone coverage and TV reception very good Although on main highway there was no problem with traffic noise during the night. Only issue is with the lack of night lighting. It was very dark and care needed to be taken. Just a question that may or may not have had to do with the park itself. Didn't get a chance to ask management what the unpleasant odour was that happened early in the evening. Had to close all doors and windows. But it was still there in the morning. On the outskirts of town on the way to Barcaldine the smell seemed to be still with us. Perhaps it was the result of all the previous floods polluting the area.
