Qld, Burrum Heads, Burrum Heads Beachfront Tourist Park

Date of Stay: July 2015 Rating: 4
I agree with the above report. It is a good park to stay for a few days or a month or so. Good lighting, good amenities, dump point, close to basic shopping centre, town library with internet, open three days a week. Access to sites is reasonable, manager (Peter) always helps with parking vans. Sites are tight but each has enough space for a van and a vehicle with a bit left for a small craft. There are three public boat ramps along the river near the park. Another ramp is at the park for residents use. We were there for four days at the end of July and the park was full. Most vehicles were registered in southern states. Most people were there for a lengthy stay. What to do in Burrum Heads? Fishing, walking, golf, fishing, bowls, fishing, reading, visit Childers, Hervey Bay, fishing. Fishing is hugely popular. People are very friendly. They always give a Hello or G'day. No trouble to have a long chat about anything. Mostly fishing though. The manager deserves out thanks. She went to great lengths to relocate us to another site (which became available due to a sudden cancellation) after she discovered the fig tree branches over our first riverfront allocation were fruiting, bringing parrots and flying foxes. We greatly appreciated her consideration. It's a good park and friendly village to relax.

Vic, Wodonga, Wodonga Showground

Date of Stay: April 2015 Rating: 3.5
The camp ground at Wodonga Showgrounds in Wilson Street is ideal for an overnight stay such as our visit. Campgrounds are adjacent to the racecourse. Access is easy along quiet streets. Power and water are available at approximately 12 sites. A few new power and water outlets were just completed but not yet available so an extension of these sites might be ongoing. However, there is a huge area for unpowered/no water sites. The whole of the camp area is level. Amenities facilities are average - clean and presentable with free hot and cold showers - but the men's shower has the older style round metal head and the water comes out like a waterfall. Fantastic! The campground is very quiet - well away from traffic. However, it is not handy to any shops. Good value at $18 per night. Friendly caretaker collects money in the morning. The location allows a quick morning getaway if travelling to Corryong or Beechworth.

Vic, Corryong, Colac Colac Caravan Park

Date of Stay: April 2015 Rating: 4
For us and for this trip, this park was just what we needed for our stay in this area. The trees in the park were showing their autumn colours to their best - yellows, reds, oranges, browns, etc. Just beautiful. The crowds of the Man From Snowy River Festival had gone, leaving the park very quiet. With very few other vans and campers we were able to spread out and choose our own site - from slab or grass, either under trees or in the open, near the amenities or away in an isolated position. (We chose to be near the amenities). Sites are powered or non-powered and with or without water. The park is about 5km from Corryong and is a good base for day trips into surrounding regions. We did a day trip up into the Kosciuszko National Park - which made the park ideally placed. The park's environment is tidy and clean. Amenities are very reasonable and a basic camp kitchen is available. the grounds were impressively maintained. The manager was on a mission to keep the grass free of leaves. Busy man! The creek along one boundary is equisite. It must be popular in summer. A few items of play equipment are available for kids. Access into the park is simple. There is clear road vision off (and onto) the highway with a straight, flat, treed driveway. There is no lighting around the park but it is not needed. It seemed to be better without lights - added to the ambience.T However, the areas around the amenitites and the entance/office were well lit. Fire places are available and were used by some campers. Owners are informative, pleasant and helpful and obviously proud of their park. Price was $33 per night after a "three night discount" - down from $36. If you are in the area, go out tho Tintaldra and drop into the Post Office/cafe/museum and meet 88 year old Betty Walton. Be ready to spend at least two hours with her over a Deavonshire tea (or two) as she is amazingly entertaining and informative with her local history stories. She is an absolute gem. We are glad we decided to spend a couple of days in and around Corryong. It was well worth the visit.
Friendly staff, no complaints, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money $36 for 2A PN, powered, off-peak season. Paid $33, reduced for discount for three nights. Amenities are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, annex slabs to some sites, shade to most sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, no rec room, basic camp kitchen, kiosk, van parking, you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 3. Quiet, open & roomy park, adequate shade, no permanent/annual vans. Clean UC gas BBQs are free, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Basic playground, in average condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe, park is considered suitable for mobility impaired persons.
Liked:- Many shady trees if needed. Open, roomy camping areas. Personal and friendly managers. Very easy access to sites. It is so quiet and peaceful and the stars are astonishing.
Parking:- Very good parking space
Added Touches:- Information brochures in office. Fires allowed, great on cold nights. Safe and clear access from and onto the highway.
Local Information:- Corryong township is worth a day's visit (especially local history, museum, lookouts and historic buildings). Fuel is reasonably priced. Visit Betty Walton at the historic general store in Tintaldra for lots of local history. IGA in town. Also cafes.
Road Conditions:- Roads from Wodonga are good for caravans - wide, sealed, good edges, no sharp bends - with a couple of sections that are a climb but certainly not dangerously steep and winding. Between Wodonga and Corryong, fuel is only available at Tallangatta. Some rest areas along the way. Pleasant drive.

NSW, Wooli, Wooli Council Caravan Park

Date of Stay: March 2015 Rating: 4
We recently spent a very pleasant few days at the council's Wooli Camping and Caravan Park. It lies on a peninsula between the river and the beach, close to the original part of town, near the school. A public "through" road runs beside the park and takes vehicles from town to beach and river access points then on to the river mouth. The park is relatively small with both long and short term residents and campers. The amenities block is clean and well maintained. The camp kitchen stands out as one of the best with a massive selection of utensils and cooking items. Just take your food and everything is at your fingertips - slow cookers, pizza oven, frying pans, crockery, pots, pans, a box of cutlery, microwaves, fridge, freezer, everything. The campers/residents are very friendly and helpful. They are obviously very proud of their park. They are a lot of fun and, apparently, they have a hell of a good time at the local bowls club.. - playing and eating. The management of the park do a good job. Desk staff are friendly and welcoming. Price of site was very reasonable. We didn't have any trouble with midges or sand flies except for one bite to my wife. There was no need for coils, sprays or creams. The township reminds one of the 1950s in some sections but there are some very impressive homes in other sections. Fuel is available at a service station and at other outlets. Wooli and its council caravan park are for those who want a totally relaxed holiday. The only situation where we heard time mentioned was when the bowls club started dinner. That says it all.
Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good value for money $24 for 2A PN, powered, off-peak season. Amenities are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, annex slabs to some sites, shade to some sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, basic rec room, good camp kitchen, disabled facilities, dump point, van parking, no wireless internet available.. Quiet, open & roomy park, adequate shade, a few permanent/annual vans. No pool. Suitable for month or longer, well maintained park, park is considered suitable for mobility impaired persons.
Liked:- Friendliness, small, quiet, handy to beach/river/shops.
Added Touches:- Close to bowls club, close to boat ramp to river, great camp kitchen.
Local Information:- Great dinners at bowls club (Chinese meals a speciality), short drives to beaches and headland lookouts, fuel available.
Road Conditions:- Bitumen road from Pacific Highway is reasonable, a bit wavy at times. Wide enough for caravans.

NSW, Brunswick Heads, Terrace Reserve Holiday Park

Date of Stay: May 2014 Rating: 4.5
Brunswick Heads is a quiet relaxing beach side village that has changed little over the 55 years that I have known it, and that's the attraction! If you are looking for peace and quiet, away from the high rise buildings and fast food take-away outlets, this is for you. The caravan park and its township are a great place to unwind, but it is close to the higher life of Byron Bay if you want to make a day visit. The caravan park office staff are friendly and helpful. The park area, the access roads and the amenities are clean and tidy. The permanent, private accommodation within the park is tidy and well presented. The cabins are also tidy and look comfortable and are well located close to the river. The caravan park does not have its own playground but there is a public playground just near the office in the riverside park. It is only a few minutes stroll to the business area, river and beach. You won't need to use you car. The Terrace Reserve Holiday Park would make an ideal base for a few days, a week or two or a month.
Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Amenities are close to all sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to most sites, shade to some sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, no camp kitchen, dump point, secure entry, no wireless internet available. Quiet, open & roomy park, adequate shade, many permanents. Clean UC electric BBQs are free, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground, in good condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe, park is considered suitable for mobility impaired persons.
Liked:- Very friendly and helpful office staff. Grounds are very well maintained. BBQs are impeccably clean. Excellent location. Very close to shops, river, parks and hotel. Good showers in the very clean amenity block. Easy walk (or drive) to the surfing beach. Very sociable park and town. No hoons or ratbags.
Disliked:- Some sites might be tight for vans over 20 feet during peak times. OK during off peak times though. Price is a bit high.
Parking:- Pull up zone in front of office entry. Room for rigs to stop while other vehicles can easily drive past to access the park. The exits are separate from the entry. For a second car or a visitor's car, there is a parking area near the entry.
Added Touches:- Aviary, fish cleaning table, kayak hire, dump point.
Local Information:- Excellent meals at hotel, nearby coffee shops and cafes with relaxed atmosphere , "housie" in public hall over summer holidays, excellent local drives eg to Byron Bay, Bangalow, Mullumbimby and Nimbin, good fishing, markets in Memorial Park on first Saturday of each month. Small but helpful information office.
Road Conditions:- Close to Pacific Highway, good access roads into the town.
