The Village is only a 10-12 minute drive S of the Brisbane CBD and is close to sporting venues, shopping, hospitals and restaurants. There is easy access to both the Gateway Motorway and Pacific Hwy with public transport facilities at the Village's entrance. Set on 33 acres landscaped acres, Brisbane Holiday Village features a large Inca-themed swimming lagoon, shallow children's lagoon with three mushroom fountains, 18 hole putt-putt course, children's playground area, full size tennis court, undercover barbecue areas, daily lorikeet feeding, reception with tour desk, public telephones, five guest laundries, spacious grassed areas, holiday cabins, camping sites, tourist caravan sites, ensuite sites, cafe and convenience store. The cafe is open seven days and offers affordable meals for families and can cater for large groups. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and takeaway meals are available. There is easy access to both the Gateway Motorway and Pacific Highway with public transport facilities at the Village's entrance. Close to Garden City shopping centre. There are 12 ensuite sites with concrete slabs, most of the other powered sites were mainly grassed. The park has 5 amenity blocks located throughout the park with laundry & ladies & men's toilets. The showers had a small lip between the shower & the drying area but the water still ran out on to the drying area. There were no mats provided & the tiles were slippery. Soap & electric dryer provided but no hooks or towel rails near the hand basins. $50 key deposit was a bit much. $238 per week 2A was reasonable value. When we were there a conference was being held in a marquee & on the last night they had a band which played until 11.15 pm. When I complained the next morning the receptionist apologized & said they should have stopped at 10 pm

Qld, Benaraby, Boyne River Tourist Park

Date of Stay: August 2011 Rating: 3
No longer BIG4 member. No pets allowed although the site next to us had an unrestrained dog. Described as a tourist park but there are a lot of permanents, long stayers & workers bunk houses. We had ensuite site which at $40 ($45 with $5 discount) was a bit overpriced. You would need to book ahead as there didn't appear to be many sites available to tourists

Qld, St George, Pelican Rest Tourist Park

Date of Stay: July 2011 Rating: 4
Grass sites with easy access. Excellent showers, individual towelling bath mats provided, shower caddy, curtain, dry area, single tap control. Only one amenities block & therefore a bit of a distance from some sites. Friendly reception. Over 2 km from town centre. Lighting could be better

Qld, Charters Towers, Charters Towers Tourist Park

Good park, friendly, close to town. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good laundry, good camp kitchen, kiosk, dump point. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, a few permanents. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Clean pool. Suitable for few days, well maintained park. Ensuite site was good value at $30.60 per night (2A) with Top Tourist discount. The ensuite we had is in need of maintenance but management have plans to upgrade during the off season. NSW, Cobar, Cobar Caravan Park

Date of Stay: July 2011 Rating: 3
Good wide sites with a lot of room between sites. Full width concrete slab to park the van. Water & power a little distance from the site but still reachable. Amenities need of updating. & a bit more regular cleaning as the paper towel ran out & the waste bin was overflowing. Very busy park with a lot of vans only staying one night. We had trouble with the brakes on our van but service was almost non-existent. The only business that showed any interest & tried hard to get replacement parts was Autopro. $26 per night 2A, pensioner discount, was good value.

NSW, Hillston, Hillston Caravan Park

Date of Stay: July 2011 Rating: 2
A sign on the office door advised to select a site and the fees would be collected later. No one called so the council missed out on some revenue as there were about 14 vans in the park. The cleaner told us that the previous managers had been made redundant & they were in the process of appointing new ones. The sites were level with good grass with water & power close by. The facilities were clean but needed some updating. Soap & paper towels provided in the toilet area. About a 5 minute walk to the shopping centre. There was only one fuel outlet on the main highway, $1.51 per litre. Suitable for an overnight stop.
