Neat little park that is very handy to Cradle Mountain and the west coast. Pet friendly and the town really does try to make an effort. Last owners of the roadhouse had let it slide (no fuel, etc:) but new owners are quite dynamic.

Great Location. Good access to the freeway. Getting very popular with hired campervans and it pays to ring and book in advance now. $40 pn 3 adults. Park probably needs a bit of a spruce up at that price. No drive through sites or sites where you can stay hooked up over night

In late July caravans are moved to the east of the site to allow for the caravan show, otherwise the sites are normally down near the "lake", near the new toilet blocks. TV reception was non existent, but otherwise everything was quite good. As the only dog friendly park for 30km it was quite ok

The best sites are grabbed early, and its a long way from anywhere so many (including us) free camp on the way in and get there before lunch. The generator is on the Carpentaria Highway side so best to avoid that side. No telephone range but the roadhouse should have a wifi service, but it was down when we were there. Nearest phone range was near the MacArthur Mine 40km east

Qld, Charleville, Evening Star Tourist Park

Phone range is a bit hit and miss and TV reception is much the same, otherwise I'd give it a higher rating. Large sites and extremely friendly managers. Its part of a 33000 ac property and has a lot of quite varied habitats so I would recommend the station tour - run by one of the joint owners (new owners since our last stay 3 years ago) who is also manager of the local environment management authority). Sweet bore water suitable for fussy coffee drinkers

Qld, Brisbane, Sheldon Caravan Park - Eight Mile Plains

Only about 10 tourist sites but the cope with 20-22' vans ok. There seems to be more newer cabins since we stayed last, 3 years ago, and these provide a buffer to the permanents. The amenities closest to the tourist sites seem to have received some attention and, considering the age of the building, are in relatively good condition. $40/night for a city park seems reasonable. A major Westfield shopping complex is about 1km away, as is the bus interchange

NSW, Yamba, BIG4 Saltwater @ Yamba Holiday Park

Date of Stay: August 2015 Rating: 4
About 10km to the shopping centre but the facilities and location make up for it. Sites are set out in a circular pattern and are a very generous size. Relatively new and well maintained facilities. Telephone reception good. TV reception poor

Apparently there is a new management company and they have been doing some major improvements. New amenities and camp kitchen are excellent and whilst there weren't previously annex slabs these seem to be going in. 10 were poured whilst we were there.

I think tired is the best description for this park, but quiet enough unless the rugby grounds in use. We had a drive through site, where they allowed us to straddle 2 sites that were back to back, as it was very quiet.

Manager's name is On-site caretaker
Caravan sites set up at the northern end of a large area at the Showgrounds.
Average staff friendliness, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money $17 for 2A PN, powered. Paid $13, reduced for unpowered. Amenities are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, no sites with annex slabs, no sites are shaded, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by. No rec room, basic camp kitchen, late checkout allowed, no wireless internet available., you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 3. Quiet, open & roomy park, inadequate shade, no permanent or annual vans. UC BBQs. No playground. No pool. Suitable for few days.
Liked:- We only stayed overnight, arriving about 5.30 and off early the next morning but another couple had stayed a week and if we hadn't needed to keep going we probably would have stayed a couple of nights as well
Disliked:- very basic
Local Information:- A couple of Km off the Highway from the Kew turn off - convenient to break a long day
