Liked:- We like the quiet area of this park. There is a cafe next door which means a lot of local traffic during the day but very little outside noise after 5pm. Each time we have stayed here (3 in total) our site has been easy to negotiate. The bathroom is one of the best I have seen although only 4 showers which may get a bit busier in peak season. Plenty of grass beside sites also.
Disliked:- Not so much a dislike but there are no real kid facilities (doesn't bother our kids though).
Parking:- You may have trouble with a big rig if lots checking in as the park is situated next to a busy little cafe and connecting car park.
Added Touches:- Close to boat ramp and marina.
Local Information:- Fantastic walking tracks and bike paths out around the marina, a calm part of Deception Bay right next door for kayaking, local cafe is great and walking distance to famous Morgan's Seafood. Redcliffe Sunday markets close by are one of the best we've seen with plenty of fresh produce.
Road Conditions:- Good road conditions

Qld, Chinchilla, Chinchilla Tourist Park

Date of Stay: July 2015 Rating: 4
A relatively new caravan park with excellent amenities blocks. This park appears to have been created for the mining influx in the area but almost ALL the cabins were empty and the place appeared to be like a ghost town.
Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money $45.50 for 2A 2C PN, powered. Amenities are close to all sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided. Annex slabs to most sites, no sites are shaded. Good laundry, good camp kitchen, no wireless internet available.. Quiet, open & roomy park, adequate shade. Clean UC electric BBQs are free, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground. Clean pool. Suitable for few days, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Liked:- The gardens and grassed areas behind the cabins around the dam is a great place for kids to stretch their legs. The caravan park also offers evening meals and breakfasts in the dining room (I guess for the workers although guests able to use it).
Local Information:- Some of the local pubs have good meals so check them out.

Qld, Roma, Roma Big Rig Tourist Park

Date of Stay: July 2015 Rating: 3
The amenities are very old and quite cramped with not a lot of room to change or put your clothes when in the shower. Amenities could do with a serious upgrade. The sites are quite small to negotiate - we had a drive through and had to drive out onto the road then drive into our site although it was nice having the wooden barriers between sites for a bit of privacy. The park was a little noisy due to cattle trucks driving through town.
Friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. $53 for 2A 2C PN, powered. Paid $47.70, reduced for Chain Discount - Top Tourist. Amenities are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, there was adequate hot water. Inadequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to most sites, very few sites are shaded, drive-through sites, hard to negotiate into site. Good camp kitchen, no wireless internet available.. Noisy, claustrophobic park, inadequate shade, a few permanent/annual vans. Clean UC BBQs, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground. Clean pool. Suitable for few days.
Liked:- Close to the Big Rig Tourist Attraction (walking distance).
Disliked:- A bit cramped and tired looking - could do with some TLC. I think more effort has been put into the cabins here.
Local Information:- You MUST check out the Roma Saleyards that have sales every Tuesday and Thursday. Entry is free and make sure you take the free guided tour - the man who led us around spent most of the morning stopping, chatting and explaining how everything worked. The day we went they had the largest sale day on record - absolutely amazing place - was the real reason we stayed in Roma on a Tuesday. Also check out the Big Rig Tourist Venue and their night sound and light show (they had just changed management hands when we went)

NSW, Lightning Ridge, Opal Caravan Park

Date of Stay: July 2015 Rating: 5
When you drive into Lightning Ridge you wonder what you have landed in- quite a shoddy looking town at first but don't judge this book by its cover! Our kids have their own "rating" system for every park we stay at and this one is in their top five! We stayed in an ensuite site and there was plenty of room in there. All sites are drive through. There had been quite a lot of rain the days before we arrived so some areas were quite muddy however the actual sites were well drained.

Were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Liked:- Fantastic park and we loved the fossicking area down the back of the park, even if it was really muddy. Sites were huge too!
Added Touches:- Tour buses can pick you up from reception to do some of the local tours. Walking distance to the artesian pools that are opened almost 24 hours!
Local Information:- This town is such a surprise filled with characters. Cannot recommend highly enough the Chamber of the Black Hand underground tour. The pizzas from Bruno's were delicious and we had to have takeaway as they were booked out.

NSW, Narrabri, Highway Tourist Village

Date of Stay: June 2015 Rating: 3
There was a problem with our booking and they couldn't find the booking for an ensuite site and said all ensuite sites were booked out. We had to take a regular site (ours was a bit tight to get into). A very leafy caravan park with lots of gardens and grassed areas.
Friendly staff, average staff response to complaints. Good value for money. Amenities are close to all sites, cleanliness was average, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to most sites, shade to most sites, ensuite sites available, drive-through sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, no rec room, no wireless internet available.. Quiet, open & roomy park, adequate shade, a few permanent/annual vans. Clean UC BBQs. No playground. Clean pool. Suitable for few days, suitable for families.
Liked:- Lovely grassed areas at the back overlooking the creek area. Quiet considering right on the highway.
Disliked:- The fact our booking was lost and they had to squeeze us in - even if there was an ensuite site that remained available the entire time we were there (not the fault of park managers as they were only new to the park - previous managers mucked it up.).
Parking:- Good parking while checking in.
Local Information:- Make the effort to drive out to the Australian Telescope Compact Array just outside Narrabri.

Qld, Gold Coast, Main Beach Tourist Park - Main Beach

Date of Stay: April 2015 Rating: 4
We had an ensuite site so cannot comment on the amenities block- the ensuite sites are quite roomy with large shower cubicles. The ensuite sites are quite tight to get into and can take a bit of manoeuvring. The park is surprisingly quiet considering where it is situated - unfortunately on our most recent stay here there was an inconsiderate family next door who talked non-stop until 2am then were up at 6. This has been the only time we have had a real issue with noise.
Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money, ensuite, peak season. Were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to most sites, shade to most sites, ensuite sites available, hard to negotiate into site. Good laundry, kiosk, secure entry, wireless internet is available, you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Optus, reception quality was 3. Quiet, adequate shade, no permanent/annual vans. Clean UC electric BBQs are free. Good playground, in good condition. Clean pool, pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, park is considered kid-safe.
Liked:- The school holiday activities for the kids are fantastic plus the free pancake breakfasts and sausage sizzle lunches. Love that you are right across the road from a patrolled beach too.
Local Information:- Some great local meal offers - try Tedder Avenue for great early meal offers and also the Southport Yacht Club.
Road Conditions:- Getting in and out of Surfers Paradise is a nightmare and makes it difficult to get in the car to do anything.
