Qld, Mitchell, Major Mitchell Caravan Park

Date of Stay: August 2018 Rating: 5
What a great park. Well set out, managers very friendly and we managed to arrive on a Friday night when they have a 3 course Camp Oven Dinner, tomato soup and main course - brisket stew prepared by the Anglican Vicar and his helpers; desert was Apple Strudel prepared by the camp owner. All this for $15.00 per person. Wow what a night. All proceeds go to the Anglican parish and there were 70 of us there.
Very friendly staff, staff helped us at the site, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good value for money $30 for 2A, powered, off-peak season. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, no sites with annex slabs, shade to some sites, ensuite sites available, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, disabled facilities, dump point, van parking, book swap available, no wireless internet available., you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5. Noisy, open & roomy park, adequate shade, no permanent/annual vans. Clean UC gas BBQs are free, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground, in good condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe, park is considered suitable for mobility impaired persons.
Liked:- Only 1 km from centre of town. Artesian spas about 200m away.
Disliked:- We were near the road and although it was noisy at times you really didn't notice it after awhile
Parking:- Parking available
Added Touches:- Morning teas every Friday and usually held at Artesian Spas, we missed it but was informed the food was plentiful and delicious
Local Information:- Not a lot of things in Mitchell to do although there was the camel and pig racing on the Saturday.
Road Conditions:- Good, no shoulders at times but plenty of overtaking areas.

Qld, St George, St George River Front Tourist Park

Date of Stay: August 2018 Rating: 2.5
This park was in a good position for self contained vans. 9 kms from St George. No water available, only power. Amenities 400m from riverfront. Very windy at times. $33.00 a night. Bathrooms well set out but showers are barely a dribble. Owners obliging. Thought the cost was a bit much for what we had. Dusty area.
