NSW, Balranald, Balranald Caravan Park

Date of Stay: September 2018 Rating: 4
We have often driven through Balranald on our way somewhere else. This time we decided to stop for a few days and were glad we did. The town is very welcoming and the Visitors Centre is excellent. It includes a café, an interpretative centre and a museum. The caravan park is on the banks of the Murrumbidgee and is a very pleasant spot. Reception was friendly, 'pick a site and let us know' - but we did get there early. As it's on the main highway it gets busier later in the day and the truck noise is a little loud through the night as they enter/exit the town. Amenities are clean. Not many but never had to wait. Lots of lawn and shade. Some lovely picnic spots on the river drive in town. A great little art gallery. Went out to Yanga shearing shed and homestead. Well worth a visit.

NSW, Gol Gol, River Gardens Tourist Park

Access to this lovely park is very straightforward as it is situated just off the Sturt Highway in the small NSW town of Gol Gol , just over the river from Mildura. It has absolute river frontage but there are only 2 riverside van sites available, the remainder being cabins. Not to worry, you are never far away and there are lawns/tables/bbq so you can take advantage of the river. We stayed in one of the many en-suite sites. They are a bit old, basic but functional. The sites themselves are quite small. The management were able to place larger rigs on the en-suite sites as it was not busy and they, effectively, were taking up one and a half sites. The park has a friendly feel. Lawned sites with plenty of shade. An excellent camp kitchen with free, clean stainless steel BBQs. You get the impression that management really know how to run a caravan park as they space out the vans so as not to have everyone on top of each other. They would often escort people to their site. We stayed 5 nights and only paid for 4 through a deal they had going. It came to around $170, not bad for an en-suite site. Highly recommended base to explore this attractive region. While we were in Mildura there was a price war between the Lake Mungo tour operators and some great deals were available. Enquire at the wonderful Visitors Centre.

This is a lovely park. Unfortunately, for the time we were there (4 nights) they were constructing a mini golf course and there was heavy machinery operating from 7am to after 5pm. There was constant noise and dust, all this only 10m from our site. As a result we could not enjoy the park. I thought, perhaps, they could have provided some notice of these works when booking. The location is great, the reception was friendly and the facilities are attractive. And soon there will be a mini golf course!

This park is in an excellent location on the banks of the Wimmera River. It is an open and roomy park with lots of lawn and shade. Sites are not clearly defined but are huge. The caretaker comes late afternoon. We had an ensuite site. $42pn. It was pretty old but clean and functional. They have done a lot of work around the park with new cabins, roads and general facilities. Plenty to see in the area and worth a couple of days. A very quiet and relaxing spot.

NSW, Glen Innes, Glen Rest Tourist Park

A small park on the New England Highway just south of town. We paid $32pn. It was nearly full when we arrived but we received a friendly welcome and were assisted into our site. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly owners and we were soon on first name terms. A co-axial cable is provided for TV reception. The amenities are small, homely, spotlessly clean and the doors are colourful and artistic. Unfortunately, the park is very close to the highway and there is a lot of truck noise through the night. The sites in the centre of the park are drive through.

A Top Tourist park we paid $34pn with the discount. This is a large, quiet and well set out park. You can pick your own site and we chose a drive through spot with lawn and shade. There are 3 large amenities blocks with plenty of showers and toilets. Everything is clean and well maintained. The rubbish recycling is well organised with 3 clearly marked bins. This park is just off the Waterfall Way, east of town and an excellent base to explore this rich and attractive area. Don't miss the free bus tour from the Visitors Info Centre. Better to book first. A lovely park. We would stay again.

NSW, Tenterfield, Tenterfield Lodge Caravan Park

Date of Stay: May 2016 Rating: 3.5
A small park of 27 sites, west of the town and close to the lovely old railway station. It is part of the Kui chain. We paid $29pn. Barry is the new owner and he provided a warm, friendly welcome and handed us some tourist information. There are a small number of drive through sites. The amenities block is small (3/3) and there is a lovely camp kitchen with a new BBQ on which we cooked up a few delicious local snags from the butcher shop opposite the Tenterfield Saddler. Gravel roads, lawned sites. A neat and friendly park but best advised to book a site due to the size.

I can usually find something wrong with any caravan park but this one had me beat. It is excellent in every respect. Terrific value at $34pn for an en suite site with the Big4 discount. Sites are drive through with high hedges for privacy. There is a concrete slab for your awning and it even has inbuilt rings for your guy ropes. The ensuite is large and clean with a storage room also available. The park is huge and there is a large permanent retirement complex on site. It is accurately described as a RV Resort but instead of a jumping castle it has an art gallery and line dancing. I also appreciated the way they allocated me a security code using numbers from my mobile phone. A nice touch.

We paid $33 for an overnight stay in an ensuite site in this small, leafy and pleasant park. It seems all sites are ensuite. We followed the signs to the park which is well off the main road but not difficult to find. We had the convenience of a drive through site to stay hooked up. A co-axial cable is provided for good TV reception. We were shown onto our site by the friendly owner. The ensuite is small and basic. Exposed plumbing. It will never feature in Home Beautiful magazine. No frills but everything works. A pleasant and convenient stopover. Good value.

We have stayed in this park previously and been impressed by the layout, location and facilities. We paid $39 for a drive through ensuite site so were able to stay hooked up. The site was cement and lawn with a slab available for your awning. We walked over the road to the Aldi supermarket to purchase our tea. The main street is only a short stroll away from the park. The ensuite is spacious and clean. Everything you want in a park.
