QLD, Longreach, Longreach Tourist Park

Date of Stay: June 2016 Rating: 2
This very large gravel surface park has many sites that are very small and don't have sullage points, no space for vehicle alongside your van, and most vans are draining direct onto the ground, so you can imagine the 'pig sty' mud pools that are in this area. Vans with showers and washing machines being the main culprits, management not really interested in the problem. So ensure you get a site in an area that has sullage drains or get an ensuite site.

Tas, Scamander, Scamander Sanctuary Caravan Park

Date of Stay: April 2012 Rating: 3.5
66 sites, plus 6 safari tent/cabins. Very friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money ($25 2A PN, powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, separate bathroom, paper towels/dryer provided, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, no sites with annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, no rec room, good camp kitchen, secure entry, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Peaceful, no permanents. Clean UC gas bbq (free), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Excellent playground in good condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more.
Liked:- Only 5 vans here when we stayed just prior to Easter, so very peaceful, short 5 min walk to beach (but surf was rough so no swimming). The main playground is set away in separate area from sites, with only a small toddlers area between amenities and camp kitchen.
Disliked:- It's a new park that in my opinion it's been poorly designed for caravans, although the sites are separated by small shrubs most sites are only wide enough van & awning, or van & car if awning not used and very few sites where van can be sited with A frame facing east. Internal roads are narrow, if the park was busy it could be a very crowded park with poor site access.

Tas, Swansea, Swansea Beach Chalets

Date of Stay: March 2012 Rating: 3
The park is right on the beach, with around a dozen tourist sites on the beach side of the park with the remainder of the park being on site vans and cabins. Staff explained park layout and facilities. Poor value for money ($35 2A, powered). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Mostly level sites, good night lighting, no sites with annex slabs, no sites are shaded. Good laundry, van parking, wireless internet is available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4). Peaceful, many permanents. Clean pool. Suitable for few days.
Liked:- Excellent ocean views and allows dogs.
Disliked:- Expensive.

Tas, Arthur River, Arthur River Cabin Park

Date of Stay: February 2012 Rating: 3
This is very basic dog friendly park just north of the Arthur River village, only has around 8 power sites, a fairly large non-power area and around 12 cabins. Good basic clean amenities block, nice showers, and small basic camp kitchen. $28 powered site, or $25 for pensioners or seniors. Manager/owner Charlotte is friendly and helpful.

Tas, Wynyard, Beach Retreat Tourist Park

Date of Stay: February 2011 Rating: 3.5
Manager's name is Graeme and Cheryl. Cheryl still checks the amenities blocks, wiping out the showers/basins late at night. You are not allowed to drive on the grass and park cars on the roadway. All sites have concrete pad that the caravan/motorhome must be parked on with awning over the grass. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money ($27 2A PN). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, no sites are shaded, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, no rec room, basic camp kitchen, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Quiet, open & roomy park, not enough shade, no permanents. No playground, no pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, park is considered suitable for mobility impaired persons.
Liked:- Next to the beach, good boardwalk along the beach which can be used to walk dogs.
Disliked:- The gents shower heads are too low and of a type that gives out small thin stream.

Tas, Burnie, Burnie Holiday Caravan Park

Date of Stay: January 2011 Rating: 3
Manager's name is Valerie. The caravan park is part of, and located at the rear of, the Ocean View Motel. Friendly staff, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($28 2A PN, powered, peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly unlevel sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate small to medium vans, very few annex slabs, shade to most sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, basic camp kitchen, car wash, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5). Peaceful, no permanents. Clean heated pool is shaded. Suitable for few days.
Liked:- It seems it's not a popular park for locals on holidays with school children. We used this park to avoid very busy beachside parks during school holidays. Penguins do come up the beach here at night.
Disliked:- While this park is close to beach you have to cross the Bass Hwy and a now unused railway line to access the beach. Dogs not allowed on the beach area (understandably due to penguins frequenting the area at night) but there is a dog beach area about 1 1/2 km east.

SA, Port Neill, Port Neill Caravan Park

Date of Stay: March 2010 Rating: 2.5
The park has new owners and new manager, they are trying to rebuild after the previous owner/manager let the park run down. The park is clean, the amenities are old but very clean, the manager and staff friendly and helpful. This park is pet friendly.

SA, Port Lincoln, Port Lincoln Caravan & Cabin Park

Date of Stay: March 2010 Rating: 2.5
The park is DFP, most tourist sites in the tourist area are very roomy sites. Most who stay here have a dog, but some who don't have a dog prefer to stay here rather than the other caravan park in Port Lincoln because of the larger level sites and it's usually less busy. Clean and adequate amenities. Friendly staff. Reasonable value for money ($24 2A PN, powered, shoulder season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, no sites with concrete annex slabs, shade to most sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by. Peaceful, open & roomy park. No pool. Suitable for a week or more
