NSW, North Haven, Brigadoon Holiday Park

Date of Stay: March 2018 Rating: 4
I found the sites better on the tennis court side of the park, they seemed to be flatter. Great amenities, fabulous clean camp kitchen, staff really helpful and courteous. They have some sites that are perfect for large setups. On the water for fishing and boating with a good boat ramp. Great swimming pool. Slabs or green mesh on nearly all sites for your annex. Will definitely come again.

Qld, Rockhampton, Gracemere Caravan Park

Date of Stay: May 2009 Rating: 4
This park has no affiliation with any park chain. Not a bad place for an overnighter when travelling. Ok location close to Rockhampton for visiting that city. Friendly staff. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($24 2A PN, powered, off-peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, concrete annex slabs to most sites, shade to most sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by, late checkout allowed (up to noon). Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade. Suitable for few days.
Liked:- Washing lines provided behind sites, but ours was so high I could not use it without a ladder. Well kept grounds and good sized sites.
Disliked:- Trains quite noisy when passing. No soap or drying facilities provided in the amenities.
Parking:- Easy parking to book in. Just pull up and walk over to the office.

Qld, Clairview, Barracrab Caravan Park

Date of Stay: May 2009 Rating: 2.5
The park has absolute beach frontage. Some sites back directly onto the beach; these sites are quite small and would not take large caravans. Other sites are bigger and there are a few drive through sites. Some sites have concrete slabs and some do not. The 6 or so drive through sites do not have slabs. At the time of our visit the drive throughs were very dirty with not much grass. There is a large grassy area for unpowered camping. The camp kitchen doubles as a bar/dining room area. There are meals nightly, no choice, just one meal available which seems to change each day. Price for meals are reasonable and meals are just 'home cooked' quality. There are shower curtains in the showers to keep the change area dry but the amenities are old and not well cleaned, they seem to be just mopped out and the corners are gray and sludgy. The men's has broken walls inside and has been the same for at least 3 years without change. The park is suitable for an overnighter or if you are a fisherman, maybe a few days. Very friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($20.00 2A PN, powered, off-peak season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were dirty, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, shade to some sites, drive-through sites, poor water quality. Basic laundry, basic rec room, kiosk. Noisy. No playground, no pool. Suitable for few days.
Liked:- Close to the beach.
Disliked:- Water to sites is not drinkable. The park is between the beach and a road which is alongside the main north-south rail line, with the main highway on the other side of the rail line. It is quite noisy with the traffic and trains. Trucks seem to travel the highway all night.
Parking:- To check in drive in along the front of the amenities to the office.

NSW, Lake Burrendong, Lake Burrendong Holiday Park

Date of Stay: March 2009 Rating: 4
There seems to be a waterslide and a kiosk, but they were not open during our visit. It seems the kiosk is only open on weekends except on public holidays and school holidays. Showers are 20c for 3.5 mins with plenty of hot water. Campers are advised not to drink the water at the sites, we used it for everything except drinking or cooking, eg ok for washing up. Drinking water is available from the fresh water tank. Very friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was lower than expected, very good value for money. The park fees at the time of our visit were $20.00 per night for a powered site, however, if you are an age pensioner or a senior your $20.00 will get you two nights out of school holiday times or public holiday weekends. Unpowered is $15.00 a night, or for two nights if you are a pensioner or senior. Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, extra charge for shower. Adequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs, shade to some sites. Basic laundry. Peaceful, open & roomy park, family/friendly atmosphere. Suitable for few days, well maintained park.
Liked:- Well kept and tidy park, grass areas are well watered and mowed. Some sites in the powered section have a great view of the Lake. There are areas where you can camp without power closer to the water.
Disliked:- Amenities do not seem to be cleaned every day.
Parking:- Just drive up to the gate and go into the office to book in. There is a parking area provided. Campers are supplied with a token to raise the boom gate when leaving.
Road Conditions:- Bitumen roads to park and into and around the powered camping area.

NSW, Condobolin, Riverview Caravan Park

Date of Stay: March 2009 Rating: 3.5
The park is on the bank of the Lachlan River. The manager is very friendly and the gardens coming in are lovely. The park is suitable for a stay for a couple of days to have a look around the area. Very friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was lower than expected, good value for money ($15.50 2A PN, powered, shoulder season). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, concrete annex slabs to some sites, shade to most sites, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, dump point. Peaceful, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, family/friendly atmosphere, a few permanents. Clean UC electric bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting. No playground, no pool. Suitable for few days, well maintained park.

NSW, Patonga, Patonga Camping Area

Date of Stay: February 2009 Rating: 4
Patonga camp ground is owned by Gosford City Council. For bookings ring between 9.00 am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday. The ranger is about the park most of the day but the office is only open from 1.00pm and check in time is 1.00pm. The park seems to be quiet through the week in the off season, but it is almost impossible to get a booking over the weekends when the park packs out with locals. I believe the park is very noisy on weekends when the park is full but during the week it is very peaceful. Amenities are accessed via a pin number. Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, reasonable value for money ($27.002A PN, off-peak period). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs , shade to some sites, adequate taps close by. Basic laundry, no rec room. Peaceful, open & roomy park, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere, no permanents. Excellent playground in good condition. No pool. Suitable for few days.
Liked:- There is a boat ramp at the park.
Disliked:- Park grounds are very well used and there is not a lot of grass on the sites, this is simply because of over use.
Parking:- There is not any real check in parking area and if you arrive before the 1.00pm check in time it is not easy to park a caravan and wait till the office opens. The easiest is to park out in the street and walk in to see if you can find the ranger who runs the park.
Local Information:- The local pub has great restaurant quality meals. There is a tennis court for hire at the park. A small general store for supplies but larger shops are only about 10km away.

NSW, Sydney, BIG4 Sydney Lakeside Holiday Park - Narrabeen

Date of Stay: February 2009 Rating: 4.5
Very friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Price was as expected, good value for money ($45.00 2A PN powered, off-peak period). Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, large sites, no sites with concrete annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, disabled facilities, dump point, secure entry. Peaceful, open & roomy park, not enough shade, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC gas bbq, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Basic playground in good condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park.
Liked:- An open grassy park, well maintained. On the side of Narrabeen Lake. Bus directly outside the park for transport to Manly to ferry to Circular Quay. The Pittwater RSL bus picks and drops off in the park, but do ring and book regardless of what you are told at reception.
Parking:- Good long lane to pull into when booking into park.

NSW, Tuncurry, Discovery Parks Forster-Tuncurry

Date of Stay: February 2009 Rating: 4
There are 4 amenities blocks in the park. I believe two are newer and two are older. The amenities closest to us were quite new and in excellent condition and kept very clean. We were here in the quiet time but the cleaners mentioned that at peak times it is impossible to keep them clean and tidy. Showers cost 20c for hot water, supposed to be around 5 mins but this seems to vary and not work correctly. The showers are of a very generous size and there is a shower curtain to keep the change area dry. In the off season this is a lovely quiet park, especially during the week, on the weekend the river is used for skiing. But it would be a very noisy park in peak times. Most of the park is made up of permanent weekenders. It is a huge park as it was once two separate caravan parks. My impression is that there are more units and villas then there are powered camp sites. The park has an Internet Cafe and a coffee shop. Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints. Price was as expected, good value for money ($25 2A PN powered, off-peak period). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, extra charge for shower, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Inadequate number of tourist sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, concrete annex slabs to some sites, shade to some sites, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, kiosk, dump point. Clean UC gas bbq ($1.00), bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in good condition. Clean pool. Suitable for few days, well maintained park.
Liked:- The park is right on the Wallamba River. Some sites have views of the water but not all do.
Disliked:- Would be much too busy in peak times as this is a very popular water ski reach of the river. There are too many permanent holiday vans/cabins and not enough tourist sites.
Parking:- Park on road or outside office to book in.

NSW, Stuarts Point, Stuarts Point Holiday Park

Date of Stay: January 2009 Rating: 4
This park has no swimming pool but there is safe swimming in the river that runs along the front of the park. There is no playground either but there is a council playground near the entrance to the park. Some sites have slabs but most do not. There are a large number of permanent vans in the park, most seem to be holiday vans. These are located at the back of the park and the tourist sites are between them and the river. The park is long and narrowish, running along the river edge. The unpowered section at the far end of the park is nicely grassed and well shaded from the afternoon sun. The town has a hotel and a workers club and bowling green. It has a butcher, well stocked general store and a newsagent. The camp kitchen is located on the grassed area overlooking the river, it is undercover, well stocked with appliances and has a good amount of seating. The far end of the park is the most shaded, the first sites in the park (closer to the office), have less trees and are open to the sun. Very friendly staff. Price was as expected, good value for money ($124.00 2A per week powered). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to only some sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, large sites, concrete annex slabs, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, no rec room, good camp kitchen, secure entry. Peaceful, open & roomy park, family/friendly atmosphere. Clean UC gas bbq, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground, no pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park.
Disliked:- Our only complaint is that we booked and when we arrived the booking was not on the system.
Local Information:- There is a bridge over the river and a fair walk to the ocean on the other side.
