NSW, North Haven, North Coast Holiday Park

Date of Stay: November 2015 Rating: 4
This is probably the best park in North Haven, located right next to the beach and a short walk from the river. The facilities have been progressively upgraded and now include an excellent camp kitchen and several separate bbq areas. The sites are a good size and mostly easy to access. Many now have double concrete slabs installed over the last couple of years. There is abundant bird and animal life with up to 10 roos frequenting the park. TV reception can be a problem although we had no trouble with a jack antenna. Mobile phone coverage by Telstra is poor and the free wi-fi is a waste of time. These things notwithstanding, this is a really good park in a really nice part or the coast.

Friendly staff, good staff response to complaints, staff offered tourist advice, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money ($30 2A PN, powered, off-peak season). We paid $26 because of seniors discount. Amenity number was adequate to cope with the number of people, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to some sites, shade to most sites, drive-through sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by. Good laundry, no rec room, no camp kitchen, late checkout allowed, dump point, secure entry, van parking, wireless internet is available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 1). Quiet, open & roomy park, plenty of shade, a few permanents. Clean UC gas bbq (free), congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting Basic playground in good condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.

NSW, Forster, Lakeside Resort Forster

Manager's name is Ian. We inspected each park in Forster and Tuncurry and this was easily the best for our purposes. All sites required chocks for levelling but none were excessive. The power overload tripped out with a heater and one other appliance running. The demand wasn't particularly high and has never been a problem in other parks. Friendly staff, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money ($38 2A PN, powered, off-peak season). Amenity number would not cope in peak times, are close to all sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly unlevel sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, no sites with annex slabs, very few sites are shaded, ensuite sites available, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, late checkout allowed, kiosk, disabled facilities, dump point, wireless internet is available, you can use your mobile wireless (carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 2). Peaceful, open & roomy park, not enough shade, a few permanents. Clean UC gas bbq, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Good playground in good condition. Clean pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe, park is considered suitable for mobility impaired persons.
Liked:- Very large sites with easy access. Water frontage. All permanents are located at one end of the park and tourists at the other. Fish cleaning tables. Abundant birdlife. All amenities appear brand new.
Disliked:- Charge for Austar and Wi-Fi which is generally free at other Family Parks. No "free" nights for extended stay at waterfront sites in the off season but offered for the rest of the park. TV reception for free-to-air was poor and required a lot of fiddling with the aerial.
Parking:- No van parking sites at reception
Added Touches:- Excellent pool area and facilities.
