Liked:- This park was almost wiped out in the last cyclone, the owners have worked hard to bring the facilities back. New roof on toilet block, new lighting, new electric stands for power and water. Grass is being top dressed and watered consistently and is growing well between sites We found the owners very nice, helpful and working hard to make facilities better. New motel type rooms have also been built for overnight travellers in cars. Owner gave us a key to the shower / toilet block, (normally open) just in case any guest accidentally locked it.
Disliked:- IGA grocery store runs large refrigeration behind the southern fence and for light sleepers , some have problems, however most seasoned travellers get a good nights rest.
Parking:- No, cars and vans can park opposite in busy times and just take their turn to book in.
Added Touches:- Not at the moment, we believe they are building a small shop behind the office, but with IGA 100 metre walk , everything is available, including bottle shop.
Local Information:- Good Woolworths, IGA, Excellent Country Hospital with a new wing being built. Prawns and fish available at the boat harbour at good prices. The new Space museum at the old tracking station is a must, fantastic effort by the town and their sponsors. $7 for adults $5 for children, can take photos and need at least 2 hours to see all exhibits. Plenty of good produce to be had from the farms and some parks have stands stocked by the farmers with honesty boxes and vegies and fruit in season.
Road Conditions:- Main north highway to the town and good roads throughout the town.

Local Information:- Good, excellent Tourist Bureau, with excellent in house tour. Will advise you on all attractions, meals etc.Good shopping with a brand new Super IGA just out of the main shopping area.On leaving town, going north turn about 5kms out and follow the river, narrow but good road with 2km of gravel at the end before joining the Highway. No problems and several places to pull off and take views of the river and cliffs on the way.
Road Conditions:- Good Roads in and out of town.

Qld, Babinda, Babinda Rotary Park Camping Area

Date of Stay: July 2013 Rating: 3
Free area, with showers and toilets and room for around 35 rigs on a reasonably flat area, bit mushy in the rainy season, but worth coping. Nice town with reasonable shopping and facilities, well worth a couple of days on the trip, North or South. Very friendly people, they have had their Sugar Mill closed and need Gray Nomads help. Best pies in North Qld , and an excellent side trip up to the Boulders, where this is a small park for about 7 vans/medium motorhomes. The Boulders is a photographers dream, with great foliage and rushing water.
