Vic, Melbourne, Akoonah Park - Berwick

Date of Stay: November 2015 Rating: 3.5
This is a great spot, prices are now $25 a night or $150 a week, all this money goes to improving the park and facilities. You need to book, its VERY popular being close to Melbourne and the railway station to the city is close. New power boxes have been installed but there are only about 17 sites so call and book well in advance or you may not get a spot.

This park has changed ownership and sadly is not what it used to be. The new owners have changed the signs to add a new look but put up the prices from what was good value to $34 a night. Many sites lack grass, waste water points are blocked or not working, the gardens are not maintained and on our visits bins were overflowing in some areas. We also had occupants of cabins on both nights, in two different areas involved in domestic disputes loud enough to wake up most of the park. Lets hope the park improves with management that is more active in dealing with issues. The location is great, and it used to be the pick of the parks in town but no longer.

Vic, Bendigo, Park Lane Holiday Park - Junortoun

The previous report says it all. Its a cabin park with a few sites left....and they are small, poorly maintained and all on a slope. Its overpriced for what you get. Staff are not very attentive, there are better options in the area. Optus signal all but useless, Telstra 5 Bars.

Very friendly staff, no complaints. Good value for money $20 for 2A PN, powered. Amenities are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, shade to some sites, ensuite sites available, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, dump point, no wireless internet available., you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4. Quiet, open & roomy park, adequate shade, a few permanent/annual vans. Suitable for few days.

Vic, Maryborough, Maryborough Caravan Park

This park has a new shower and toilet block and is the best we have ever seen in our travels in the last 5 years. Its amazing. The sites are big enough for any rig and at $30 for a powered site is OK value. We have stayed here before and the owners are great, there is night managers on site for late arrivals as well. Its close to town and next to the lake. There is gold in the hills so the resident say and many are out prospecting. The new camp kitchen are is also a gem.

Vic, Horsham, Horsham Riverside Caravan Park

New managers have made a huge difference to the park. Its clean, tidy and lots of work is being done. At $30 for a drive through powered site for two people its good value. There are new cabins going in but their are still plenty of sites some right on the river. The park is now members of Family Parks. We will return now the park is clean and tidy.

Vic, Traralgon, Park Lane Holiday Park

Date of Stay: October 2015 Rating: 4
The park has joined Big4 and is getting expensive but amazing facilities as with most Big4 parks. Its often bust so its worth booking ahead if you are heading there in holidays or long weekends. The other reports sum the park up well. Just note its no longer Top Tourist but Big 4 if you want your discount.

NSW, Eurobodalla National Park, Congo Camping Area

We have spent the last two weeks here, in school holidays and over a long weekend. The weekend was busy with about 25 vans and campers but for the rest of the holidays there was less than ten campers. Fees have gone up as all National park to $23 a night in peak for two people. Off peak is now $16. Details are at http://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/camping-and-accommodation/campgrounds/congo-campground

ACT, Canberra, Exhibition Park In Canberra - Mitchell

We stay here each year and its getting expensive at $33 a night for what you get. They are improving the park with new sites and a new road. The toilet block is quite old but is kept clean. Its the best place to stay in Canberra as its so central.

QLD, Chinchilla, Chinchilla Tourist Park

$30 a night for a week long stay, spotless amenities, camp kitchens, grass sites all with slab and very quiet. Optus and Telstra were both 4 bars. The miners cabins were all but empty but the grassy protected park for us in vans had a few staying. For the money imnpossible to beat. We loved out stay.
