NSW, North Haven, Jacaranda Caravan Park

Date of Stay: November 2023 Rating: 4.5
Few changes since last visit. Mid week spring special now $40/night 2A powered. Some morning noise from lawn mowers & leaf blowers but park kept neatly. A big flathead caught from the nearby breakwall (too big to keep) & a few pan size brim. Fuel cheaper in town than in Port Macquarie..Nearby cafe/coffee shop now closed.

This park has increased its price from $32/night for an ensuite site in Sep 2020 to $50/night for a dusty powered site in Oct 2023. Still a nice park but starting to get expensive. Otherwise no changes since previous reports.

Few changes in 2 years. Jeff, Katrina & Rosie still doing a great job managing the park. Amenities clean & recently refurbished. Price is $34.20/night 2A powered after Top discount. Pleasant dog friendly walks to the lookout within the park. We were allocated a drive thru site & could orientate the van in either direction. Town now has an Aldi & fuel at reasonable prices.

Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, annex slabs to most sites, shade to some sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, disabled facilities, dump point, wireless internet is available is free, you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4. Quiet, open & roomy park, adequate shade, a few permanent/annual vans. Clean UC gas BBQs are free, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Excellent playground, in good condition. Clean pool, heated, pool is shaded, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided, toddlers catered for. Suitable for few days, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe, park is considered suitable for mobility impaired persons.
Liked:- Grassy, Dog friendly, Multiple clean amenities, Good value
Disliked:- After booking in, while driving to our allocated site we passed many grassy, spacious sites. When we got to our site it was very bare, unlevel & not so grassy & looked like it had recently been sprayed by weed killer. We went back to reception & requested a better site which was happily changed. Didn't understand the reason for the original allocation.
Parking:- Stay on the street when booking in.

Typical of most parks away from the coast, this park was better value & with friendlier managers. Park is on a slight slope but has been tiered and all sites are level with an outlook over the (currently dry) watercourse. Many workers cabins but were away from tourist sites.

Liked:- Friendly managers. Spacious sites. Good value. BBQ, sink, table & chairs around the fire pit.
Disliked:- Most sites had slabs but surrounds were a bit dusty. No camp kitchen but basics (jug, toaster. frig, microwave) in the laundry. One mens shower cubicle had poor water pressure. The others were fine,
Parking:- Enough room for 2 vans to park while checking in.
Local Information:- Small town with interesting murals on walls, silos, water towers. Fuel cheaper than in surrounding towns. Local pub has free courtesy bus for patrons.

Being between a highway & railway shunting yard we were warned by other travelers that this park was very noisy but we found it fairly quiet. Maybe just lucky. Strange chicane like internal roads. Lots of workers cabins, mostly unoccupied., Lots of facilities for kids, pool, playground.
Average staff friendliness, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Reasonable value for money $68.40 for 2A PN, ensuite, shoulder season. Amenities are close to most sites, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, annex slabs to most sites, shade to some sites, ensuite sites available, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, disabled facilities, dump point, secure entry, wireless internet is available is free, you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 5. Liked:- Very secure. Not as noisy as warned. Close to town. Recently renovated, clean & spacious ensuite.
Disliked:- Young chap with long hair at reception wouldn't let us walk thru the park before we paid.. Needed full payment when booking.. Park looked like it was in a water restriction period. Lots of burned off dry grass. $6 washing machines.
Parking:- Only enough room for one van. A second van could block part of the very busy highway in front.

Hard to fault, small, grassy, neat park managed by Ken & Bev who live on site & guide you onto your site. Dog friendly. Small town on the highway but only minimal road noise.

Quiet, open & roomy park, inadequate shade, no permanent/annual vans. No BBQs. No playground. No pool. Suitable for overnighter.
Liked:- Lots of well looked after grass. All sites with slabs. Mostly overnighters so could stay hooked up. Oversize vans put in the overflow area next door so the park didn't look claustrophobic.. Guided onto site, then set up, then come to the office & pay..
Disliked:- Card only. No cash.
Parking:- Stay on the road. Only a single lane entry & exit, so need to swing out wide so you don't finish up in the gutter.
Local Information:- Pub in town but rumored to have ordinary meals.. No fuel in town.

Qld, Proserpine, Proserpine Tourist Park

Date of Stay: September 2023 Rating: 4.5
Previous reports cover this park very well. Price is $42/night 2A powered. Manager is Robyn who is friendly & inherited a friendly cat from previous managers that wanders thru the park. Clean recently renovated amenities. Sites a bit variable. Ours was shady, spacious, no slab, opposite the amenities. Others cramped, dusty & amongst permanents. Free entry to town pool next door. Good location, 30 minute drive to Dingo Beach, Airlie Beach & Peter Faust dam.

Qld, Ingham, Ingham Tourist Park

Date of Stay: September 2023 Rating: 4
Dave & Amy have now left & we arrived on the new managers/owners Steve & Cloey first day. Price is $39/night 2A powered but with Top discount it was $35.10. Park has brand new amenities and kept clean. Dog friendly. Seemed to be a bit busier than previous years with new workers cabins fully occupied. Road & rail noise only minimal. Wild Caught fish & chips have now moved into the main street of Ingham but were still top quality.

Qld, Townsville, The Lakes Holiday Park

Date of Stay: August 2023 Rating: 4.5
Few changes since last year. Price is now $55.60/night 2A ensuite including weekly discount. Handy location. Good grass cover. Some ensuites freshly painted, were clean & functional but most still needed some TLC. Internal roads still need some work. The small freshwater crocodile in the lake next door grew to be a largish salt water crocodile and has now been relocated. The Mecure motel chain from next door now own the caravan park & hopefully upgrades will happen.
