Qld, Kingaroy, BIG4 Kingaroy Holiday Park

Stayed at this park 12 months ago & the amenities were being renovated. Nothing has changed, in fact there are now only 2 showers & 2 toilets available for gents, ladies have 4 of each. Camp Kitchen area is good as are laundry facilities. Park really needs a lot of work done on the sites.

Qld, Roma, Roma Big Rig Tourist Park

Old Park, rather run down, very small sites, some only accessible by driving out on to the main road crossing the lawned footpath & then driving on to your site.
Average staff friendliness, no complaints. Poor value for money $35 for 2A PN, powered. Paid $31.50, reduced for Top Tourist Member. Amenities are close to most sites, cleanliness was average, condition is poor, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, paper towels/dryer provided. Inadequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate small to medium vans, no sites are shaded, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Basic laundry, good camp kitchen, dump point, no wireless internet available, you can use your mobile wireless, carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4. Noisy, claustrophobic park, inadequate shade, many permanents. Clean UC gas BBQs are free, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting. Clean pool. Suitable for few days.
Disliked:- Small sites, difficult access, rather tired park needing a lot of upgrading.

Qld, St George, Pelican Rest Tourist Park

Large open grassed area.
Friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Good value for money $33 for 2A PN, powered. Paid $29.70, reduced for Top Tourist Member. Amenities are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, no sites with annex slabs, shade to some sites, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, dump point, you can use your mobile wireless carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4. Quiet, open & roomy park, adequate shade, a few permanents. Clean UC gas BBQs are free, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Suitable for a week or more, well maintained park.
Liked:- Generous sized sites, could choose site, open area.

Park appears to have been very run down, but signs of upgrading & renovations happening, large trees trimmed. Ladies amenities have been upgraded with men's to happen shortly.

Amenities are close to all sites, were clean, condition is reasonable, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, some level sites, poor night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to most sites, shade to most sites, hard to negotiate into site, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Liked:- Able to choose site on arrival.
Disliked:- Too many large trees, some sites extremely difficult to get into. Office very hard to find.
Parking:- Park on the street.

NSW, Lightning Ridge, Opal Caravan Park

This is a new park & it shows.
Very friendly staff, no complaints, staff explained park layout and facilities. Very good value for money $34 for 2A, powered. Paid $30.60, reduced for Top Tourist Member. Amenities are close to most sites, were clean, condition is very good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation, disabled facilities. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, annex slabs to most sites, no sites are shaded, ensuite sites available, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, good rec room, good camp kitchen, disabled facilities, car wash, dump point, secure entry, wireless internet is available is free, you can use your mobile wireless, carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4. Quiet, open & roomy park, adequate shade, no permanents. Clean UC gas BBQs are free, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Suitable for a week or more.
Liked:- Generous sized sites, drive through & able to choose our site on arrival.
Disliked:- Ground is compacted sandstone & you need a hammer drill to drive in pegs for awnings etc. Drills available at no charge from Reception.
Added Touches:- Periodic entertainment, campfire.
Road Conditions:- Poor with bitumen being very rough.

A new park which when finished will have all the bells & whistles one would want. There is a large number of cabins (all new) being used by miners.

Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to most sites, no sites are shaded, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Quiet, open & roomy park, adequate shade, a few permanents. Clean UC gas BBQs are free, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. No playground. Suitable for few days, suitable for families.
Liked:- Ease of entry on to site, Restaurant on site for Miners but also available for caravaners at very reasonable rates.
Disliked:- Laundry fees at $5 are highest we have seen. Hard to get a machine or drier as staff also use the machines, minimal drying area.
Added Touches:- Camp fire run by management.

Secure park, fenced & security gated. Some parts of park appear to have been renovated in recent times ie. front amenity block was great, back block older & just average in condition.

Amenities are close to most sites, were clean, condition is good, water pressure is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, paper towels/dryer provided, exhaust fans/good ventilation. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate large motorhomes and 5th wheelers, annex slabs to most sites, shade to most sites, ensuite sites available, drive-through sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, basic camp kitchen, car wash, dump point, secure entry, book swap available, wireless internet is available is free, you can use your mobile wireless, carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 4. Quiet, open & roomy park, adequate shade, a few permanents. Clean UC gas BBQs are free, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Excellent playground, in good condition. Clean pool, kid-safe pool area, tables and chairs provided. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe.
Liked:- The security fencing & gating. Short walk to fast food outlets, close to town. Able to choose site on arrival.
Parking:- 3 lanes inside park.

NSW, Glen Innes, Fossicker Caravan Park

Staff also ran the service station & shop. In the 2 weeks we were there we only saw the manager a couple of times. This is a small park needing a lot of TLC & upgrading.

Liked:- Able to book ahead & choose site on arrival. Short walk out the back gate & you are at the Services Club and Woolworths.
Disliked:- Hard to access site. Amenities need upgrading & lack of cleaning was an issue particularly as it was wet at the time.
