Port Macquarie is a beautiful town surrounded by great beaches and lovely countryside. This park has an almost perfect location right on the riverside breakwater with the town beach at its eastern side and accessible direct from the park. A delightful scenic walk along the breakwater gets you to the town centre in 5 minutes with all its facilities. Unfortunately this park trades heavily on its location and standards fall critically in other areas. Roads internally are broken and potholed with diagonal drains which need great care in crossing. Powered grass sites show signs of neglect with long grass and bare patches. Management have made a number of cutbacks in service since our last visit amongst which were the centralisation of rubbish bins, which in this huge park means a long walk to disposal.
Likewise the facilities are old, tired, impossibly inadequate and incredibly cramped.Advertised free WiFi turned out to be only in the office and "not on at the moment" Office staff were insufficient, gave no local information and were not customer friendly
At $33 per night for 2 adults it seems good value but we would prefer to pay a little more for better facilities and good maintenance.

This park simply has to be one of the best in Australia. Ideally located on the banks of the river a short and beautiful stroll into town, its location is quiet, peaceful and easily accessible for large and small vans. From the perfectly laid out entry way, allowing several vans to queue to the incredibly friendly staff it is great from the start. The roads are well paved and kerbed, the over sized sites flat and well maintained. The pool, camp kitchen, outdoor dining areas and carefully maintained gardens are nothing short of perfect. Likewise the amenities blocks which are spotlessly clean, modern spacious and amongst the best in Australia. The park is well grassed with adequate shade if required. The owners work actively on site and take great pride in their park. A well deserved top rating
