NSW, Shellharbour, Shellharbour Beachside Tourist Park

Date of Stay: March 2017 Rating: 4
The amenity block wasn't brilliant, however they were building a new one (March 2017). The problem with the amenities is that they are in the centre of the park and you either have to walk all the way around, or through someone else's site to get to them. A few paths would be good. Some sites could be a bit squeeze in peak times. Certainly close to the beach though. Great spot to kick back and relax. While there are a lot of permanent vans, they are mostly holiday vans, so during school holidays, I imagine the park is quite busy. It wasn't too bad on the weekend we were there though (March and it was wet).

Quiet, open & roomy park, inadequate shade, a few permanent/annual vans. Clean UC electric BBQs are free, congenial bbq area atmosphere, bbq area lighting, seating provided at bbq. Basic playground, in good condition. No pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families, well maintained park, park is considered kid-safe, park is considered suitable for mobility impaired persons.
Liked:- Close to the beach and reasonably sheltered. We had the awning out most of the time we were there.
Disliked:- Long walk to the amenities if people were on the sites near us.
Parking:- Easy access to parking during check-in if there aren't too many checking in at one time. We were 3rd in line and the back of the van was stuck out on the street (but the street is fairly quiet).
Local Information:- The park is close to the Shellharbour Village shops and there is a nice fish & chip shop there.

No comments made about the pool as it had literally just been finished the day we arrived. It was filled the following day, but was still a work area. It should be right to go by now though (July 2016). Also, while it seems to be noisy and claustrophobic, if you go down the back of the park, there is plenty of room and it is a bit quieter.

This was the second time we have stayed at this park. It's quiet and peaceful and well managed. The sites are a bit squeezy, but once you're in, there are no problems. The staff are helpful and the facilities are great. Close to the beach and you can go see the kangaroos at 6:30 am (if you want to get up early).
