SA, Milang, Milang Lakeside Caravan Park

Date of Stay: November 2016 Rating: 3.5
Bob and Vicki have retired. Wishing them well and happy caravanning. Welcome new owners Betty and Bob who have taken over the lease. Lovely little park and happy locals to associate with, especially the doggy gang who assemble on the park opposite for their daily exercise and whom welcome caravanner dog owners to join them.

Just an update, power sites now $35.00, staff as friendly as ever with a well stocked shop. Being winter we were on our own most of the time. Limited number of tourist sites mean that you need to book later in the year. Would stay here again.

SA, Adelaide, Brownhill Creek Caravan Park - Mitcham

Date of Stay: July 2015 Rating: 3.5
Update price, $35:00 p/n for two, still our favourite park close to the city for our big rig. Same friendliness from staff. Possibility of becoming "pet friendly", however you would need to phone to confirm.

Qld, Winton, Pelican Fuel Stop Caravan Park

Date of Stay: October 2014 Rating: 3
This park now has new managers, of only a couple of months. Jason and Belinda are working hard to add their own stamp on the park. Other camp reports put us off the other big park so we came straight here, Jason and his staff are very welcoming and accommodating. Each site had outdoor carpet for the annex area, I liked this, even on the few concrete slabs. A basic dump point is available. Because of slow down of the season, one of the amenities blocks was closed. The other is fairly basic though clean with soap and paper towels. I would recommend to Jason that this is an area of need for improvement. I would stay here anytime, suited us fine. The attractions of Winton, made this a well worth while stopover. $30 pn 2 adults, power and water.

Qld, Atherton, Lakeside Motor Inn And Caravan Park - Yungaburra

Date of Stay: August 2014 Rating: 3.5
We think that this is a lovely little park where developers would be chomping at the bit to get hold of. All sites are grassed, most have a slab and reasonable size. We were lucky with a big rig to be camped on the back overlooking the lake, million dollar views. Best value at $25 per night, power for two adults. Week discount, 7 for 6, $150 per week. TV and phone ok, very friendly managers. The facilities might be old but they are much cleaner than many that we have encountered. Two newer suites and laundry near the pool, but a dump point would be nice. Even in late August, the park fills up and it would be best to book. Yungaburra is a lovely little town and the Yungaburra Market, 4th Sunday of the month is one of the best. Many attractions and routes around the Lakeland to drive and major shops only 20 minutes away. We would be happy to stay here again.

Update pricing, paid $29 per night, 2 adults, powered site; 7th night free. Still have the sausage sizzle 3 nights a week. Very large sites, accomodated 5th wheeler easily. Recommended, no frills friendly park, good base for exploring Litchfield NP and surrounds.

NT, Katherine, Manbulloo Homestead Caravan Park

Date of Stay: June 2014 Rating: 3
This park is getting very popular and the sites were all full on the nights that we stayed. Overflow area being used tonight as I write, There are nicely grassed sites and the aforementioned very shady sites. Paid $32 pn, 2 persons with power. Discounted if you stay a week. We had a nice large grassed site for our fifth wheeler, several others and motorhomes have been here this week. The drive in to the reception is clearly marked, (first gate) and there is a signed turning area that was easy for our big rig. Nice to hear sprinklers in summer but I suspect that they contributed to low water pressure. Pity that there is no dump point. "Permanents" not a problem that we could detect other than early start workers and a rooster that can't tell the time. Recommended.

NT, Katherine, Springvale Homestead Budget Motel And Caravan Park

Date of Stay: June 2014 Rating:
Just to report that the Springvale Caravan Park is closed until further notice. All approach signs and the gate have "Closed" posted. Understand it is because restoration work is being carried out but no visual ndications of any work when looking in from the gate.

NT, Alice Springs, Blatherskite Park

Date of Stay: June 2014 Rating: 3
Like most people we met here, we found this campground as we visited the Alice Springs dump point. $25 powered site for seniors/pensioners, $30 other. Plenty of room, the biggest rigs camp here. Sign at the entrance says Big Rigs and Dogs, but not everyone had either. It was the weekend of the Finke Desert Race, most town parks would have been full. The facilities are reasonable, maintained as any showground would be. Heard some complaints about running out of hot water at the busiest block. Town water taps are at a premium but plenty of power points. There are restrictions sometimes, we had to move for the Finke Race Scrutineering, all will have to leave by the 22nd June as the Alice Springs show (4th-5th July) will be being prepared. A huge park, horses to see (but not touch), lovely scenery. Some smell from the sewage treatment, dogs home in the corner of the park but all bearable for the price and space. Gate shuts at 6:30pm but special key available for $50 deposit. We had previously stopped in town at a caravan park, this place much more agreeable as an alternative.

As an update, we can advise that the previous reports haven't caused management to make any changes. The only thing going for this caravan park is Location; Location; Location. Having a bigger van, we needed to stay here as Ormiston Gorge camp spot was too tight us. Graffiti in the shower says it all...."#1 worst (sic) caravan park in Australia" We didn't see any cleaning of the facilities, indeed the cleaners sign off sheet in one suite listed up to 9 days between cleaning, 3 days to when we left. $30 would not be considered too dear but really, for cramped sites, rough stoney drive way. However, the staff interaction that we did have was very pleasant. However, location and West Macdonnel Ranges, what more can be said.
