Mount Hope Community Hall, Mount Hope

Mount Hope is 95km NW of Lake Cargelligo, and 160km S of Cobar along the Kidman Way. The powered camping area is in front of the community hall just to the north of the hotel. Donation (say $5) can be placed in the slot near the power points under the awning. Don't be a scrooge - pay something. Free unpowered camping is at the rear of the hall.

Here again on our way north this time. The dogs next door are no longer there (yay!) The trucks still pull in overnight and if they are refrigerated, they tend to be there at least 8 hours, so not for quiet sleepers unless you're down the back at the unpowered sites. Across the road from the hotel (meals were delicious there) there is an open parking area, and up the dirt road past that is the abandoned Mount Hope Copper Mine. Worth an easy walk. If there are no camping spots here at the Community Hall, there is a flat camping area 100 yards south of the hotel (not the carpark right next to the hotel).

Donation for power would be appreciated. Second time we have stayed here. Two power points at the front under the awning. Flush toilets at the rear with basic showers. It's quiet at night despite the dogs next door occasionally barking during the day - I hate barking dogs but these were not that bad. Trucks may pull up at night in the gravel area out front but it did not bother us. The pub is supposed to offer good meals and friendly service but we have not tried it. The distance from Cobar makes it an ideal stop for us.
