The sites are generous in size but quite dusty and devoid of much grass. Good concrete slabs partly compensate. Currently there are care taker managers in. They have only been here a few days but they are experienced and doing a competent job. Ablution block is interesting. There are 2 ladies and 2 gents all separate and divided by the spacious laundry but all housed in the one block. The dump point is home made (?) creative and a bit agricultural but it works well. Finding a space on the washing line at peak time could be interesting. Midnight laundry shift perhaps?
Very friendly staff. Good value for money $39.00 for 2A PN, powered. Paid $35.10, reduced for top parks. Amenities are close to all sites, were clean, condition is good, there was adequate hot water, soap provided, dry change area, paper towels/dryer provided. Adequate number of tourist sites, good night lighting, sites will accommodate medium to large vans, annex slabs to most sites, shade to most sites, adequate taps close by, adequate sullage close by. Good laundry, no rec room, good camp kitchen, kiosk, disabled facilities, dump point, no wireless internet available. carrier used was Telstra, reception quality was 3. Quiet, open & roomy park, adequate shade, no permanent/annual vans. Clean UC gas BBQs are free, bbq area lighting. Basic playground, in average condition. Clean pool. Suitable for a week or more, suitable for families.
Parking:- Will accommodate 3 rigs simultaneously.
Local Information:- Riversleigh Fossils Tour at info. centre 10am and 2pm excellent value for money.

We had not intended to stay in Mt Isa this trip, but the car played up just as we entered town on the Friday of Rodeo Week, towing our 23ft van. The RACQ attended and confirmed that we could make it to a local van park. My wife rang all but none could help except the Sunset which rang back and said to bring the van in. We gratefully parked between reception and a unit. The place was packed because of the rodeo. We took a week (power and water) for $303, as we were not sure how long repairs to the car might take - reasonable value at this peak time of the peak season. That same afternoon on recommendation of the van park we rang Bears mechanical and they kindly offered to look at the car immediately. The car was back in action an hour later - excellent service and price. We stayed at this van park three years ago. The amenities are good and clean with no waiting, even at peak times. Lighting is sufficient. There is a dump point which we used. The camp kitchen is very good and clean. Some of the sites are a bit dusty, as many are out west, but we were not affected in our special park. You can walk into town in just over twenty minutes. Our repair place was a five minute walk around the corner, a real bonus. The swimming pool was clean and tested daily, and we enjoyed a very refreshing swim. We would highly recommend this park and will certainly stop here again when up this way.

We have been in two other parks in Mt. Isa, this one is better. There are plenty of slabs, amenities are good. You can use phone & internet o.k. We paid $29.70 per night, [10% pensioner disc.] it would have been nice if the managers were a bit more welcoming, but I guess they are tired after a busy tourist season. All in all a good park & we will come to this one again.

The outside sites have annex slabs whilst the inner do not. The inner sites have better shade but no slug point and with the drought there is no grass, just very heavy clay and water lays, and often runs on to other sites. Bit of a pain but nothing the owners can do in the short term. Some fill to better grade the sites in the off season would be good though. We have stayed here before and no doubt will again

My late wife and I stayed at this park in 2013. I am in the same spot at then and I have no complaints at all. We were given a book on Mt.Isa and as I knew where I was going, that made life so much easier. Water pressure good, slab at the spot, sullage and power all OK. Easy to reverse park and even though I am about 25 yards from amenities, no complaints at all. The only complaint that I had was that when the sun went down in the west I got a face full thru the window above the stove. The mens shower was great, great water pressure and a shower curtain to stop water getting onto the floor and a bench for your own gear. I was glad to stay there again and wouldn't hesitate again next time round.
